You Fought For God And Country Too!
There still is a popular belief that the Civil War was fought solely over the slavery
issue. The most accurate figures to date show that only about 5% of the soldiers
that fought on the side of the South actually owned slaves. In comparison, this is
equal to figures from the North of persons who either owned or traded in slaves.
Make no doubt about it, THE INSTITUTION OF SLAVERY WAS WRONG!
Economically, the institution was doomed for failure and might have passed on by
itself in the time it took to fight the Civil War. The truth is that Lincoln and Grant
both owned slaves! The real issues were Unfair Taxes And STATES RIGHTS!

And Yes, Robert E. Lee Did Sign An Amnesty Oath! The Oath Was Discovered More Than 105 Years Later, Hidden In The National Archives! We Should Honor ALL AMERICANS Who Fought Honorably! Over 3 Million Fought On Both Sides, with over 600,000 dead or wounded!

Comments:
It's great to see a site where all the facts are made available concerning the war. As a direct descendant of Robert E. Lee, I decided, a long time ago, that I'm not ashamed of who my family is, and where I came from. The Lee family practicly established, and founded this country, along with other incredible people. The civil war would have happened with, or without Robert E lee, I believe he contributed to the war patience, grace, and dignity, to all who were involved. Thanks for sharing "the other side" of the story. Melissa Lee
