And, reluctantly, accepted the thought of eternal loneliness-should I fail. I have seen the faces of terror, felt the chill of fear, warmed to the touch of love. I have hoped, pained, cried. But, foremost, lived in times others would say best forgotten. At the very least, in later days, I would be able to say with the greatest pride, that i was indeed a Soldier. Dedicated to those who dead whilst serving with 3 Squadron. | Corps Collect. O'God, whose righteousness is exceeding glorious, may it please thee to send out Thy Light and Thy Truth so to lead us Thy Servants of the Corps of Royal Engineers that everwhere we may be enabled to do our duty, and so may glorify Thee our Father in Heavan, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen | | If I should die and leave you here for awhile, Be not like others sore undone, who keep Long vigils by the silent dust and weep. For my sake turn again to life and smile Nerving thy heart and trembling hand to do Something to comfort other hearts than thine. Complete these dear unfinished tasks of mine, And I perchance may therien comfort you |
