| 40s Walkers North is a very friendly and social internet based walking group. The group was set up in May 2003 with the intention of attracting walkers in their 40's and 50's. Since that time, we have gone from strength to strength and have members from all parts of the UK, with ages ranging from early 30's to 60 plus. We have walks on every weekend and regularly organise weekends and weeks away in different parts of the country. Most events are based "up north", because that's where most of our members are based (and it's nicer up here......we've got some hills !!). We usually organise walks in The Lakes, The Dales, The Peak, Snowdonia, North York Moors, Northumberland, Bowland, Scotland and places around and in between! We've already had some overseas trips to Spain, Ireland, Majorca and France with others planned for the next years or so. Occassionally we'll organise something that involves a bit of basic (grade 1) or easy scrambling, which usually generates a bit of interest from members. Everything you need to know about the group is on the site. We're purely internet based which keeps things very simple. Please read the Membership page on the left hand side of the site, which explains how to join. We have introduced a nominal fee of £10 (for a minimum of two years), which goes towards the expenses of the group, which are liability insurance, Ramblers Affiliation and YHA group membership. So you can see nobody is going to get rich from this! If you do need any further information, please email one of the co-ordinators......details on the "What's New" Page. Some groups just talk.............we walk! |
