Sabbath

By Warren G Smith

What Day is Yahweh’s (G-d) Sabbath?

Exodus 20:8 Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thou work.10 But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord (Yahweh) thy God (Elohim), in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates.11 For in six days the Lord (Yahweh) made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them is, and rested the seventh day, wherefore the Lord (Yahweh) blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.

In order to have sound doctrine or teachings, it must be built on a good understanding of the scriptures. Isaiah 28:9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? And whom shall he make to understand doctrine? Them that are weaned from milk and drawn from the breasts. 10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little and there a little. 13 But the word of the Lord (Yahweh) was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line. line upon line, here a little, and there a little, that they may go and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

These three scriptures are saying that there are hidden truths, in different places in the scriptures, which will reveal a hidden mystery, or point to a revelation, or doctrine. We must allow the Holy Spirit to bring different passages from different books and chapters of Yahweh’s Word, in order to have a solid foundation. The truth of Yahweh’s salvation is hid in the Word (Bible) from those that do not want truth and from the world, but is revealed to people that will seek Him with all of their heart Deu. 4:29 and Lev. 26:39

What day is the seventh day of rest as Exodus 20: 8-11 states?

You need to know the Feast Days (or annual festivals days) (or 7 annual Holy days) of Yahweh, that are taught in Leviticus 23:1-44 by Yahweh to Moses. This will help greatly in understanding the Sabbath of Yahweh.

Yahweh made a calendar for us to go by that cannot be changed!!

Genesis 1:14 And God (Elohim) said, let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night, and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years.

The sun starts and ends each day. When we see the sun disappear below the horizon, it ends one day and starts another. The evening and morning was the first day. Gen. 1:5, Lev. 23:32 This establishes what a day is.

When the sun is returning from its southern journey on March 21, we have the spring Equinox where the night and day are of equal time 12 hr. night 12 hr. day.

If you placed a stake in the ground the shadow would fall in a straight line east to west on the day of the Equinox. Then the next crescent of the new moon would be the first day of Abib (Aw-beeb) this is how we find the first day of the year.

Exodus 12:2 This month shall be unto you the beginning of months, it shall be the first month of the year to you. Also Exo. 13:4 and 34:18.

Ear in Strong’s Concordance (Hebrew and Chaldee Dict.), pg. 1 # 24: 1. Fresh, young ears of barley. 2. Month of ears forming, or growing green, Abib. (Pronounced Aw-beeb)

Deuteronomy 16:1 Observed the month of Abib, and keep the Passover unto the Lord (Yahweh) thy God, (Elohim) for in the month of Abib the Lord (Yahweh) thy God (Elohim) brought thee forth out of Egypt by night. (At the start of Abib 15th by night)

Exo. 9:31, states. When the barley is ripe, that is Abib (Aw-beeb). The next two verses states, the month Abib (Aw-beeb) is the first month of Yahweh’s Calendar, and corresponds to the month of March and April in our man - made calendar today.

I want to point out, that in Ex. 12:3-13, the 14th of Abib (Aw-beeb) was to be the Passover, and the 14th verse of the same chapter states "ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance forever". This verse is for you and I today. Yahshua our Messiah instituted the Bread and Wine at the Passover in the New Testament (Luke 22: 15-20). But the time has not changed; it is to be kept at the beginning of the 14th of Abib (Aw-beeb). One time a year, or annual Passover. You are not to observe the Passover whenever you want to, as some people do, (the Ch-rch world call it communion).

In Jerusalem, barley is planted in the third week of November and matures in the month of Abib (Aw-beeb means green ears) March and April. The reason we say March or April, is because that Yahweh’s moon calendar is shorter than mans solar calendar by eleven days each year, the moon calendar has 29 days 12hrs. 44 minutes 3 1/3 sec. You have to add the half day which is 12hrs 44minutes 3 1/3 sec. so every two months, you have an extra day. This is why there are 29 days in some months and 30 days in other months of the moon calendar.

So approximately every three years we must add one month to the lunar calendar, so we have a 13th month in some years. During this cycle of the 19-year period, so every 19yr the moon cycle starts over. The lunar or moon calendar of 354 days is 11 days shorter each year than the solar calendar, which consist of 365 days 5hr. 48min. 46 sec. Encyclopedia Britannica Pg. 580 book # 4

When the children of Israel came into the land, they were to offer a sheaf of barley in the first month of Abib (Aw-beeb) (after the 15th Unleavened Bread Sabbath or on the 16th of Abib) as Leviticus 23:10-12 states, which was a type of our Messiah and the first fruits, after the waving of the sheaf they were to count to Feast of Weeks Leviticus 23:15-21.

Now we know when the first month of Abib (Aw-beeb) is. How do we arrive at the first Sabbath of the month of Abib?
