Goytre warf 2007
Mr Andy Blewitt of the L.D.V. helping keep guard of the British encampment. Goytre warf 2007.
L.D.V. explaining to the Yank that not only were they late in two world wars but they are not our saviours in this war and that we were doing perfectly fine till they showed up in 1942.
Sergeant major stood with a few of the display items in the foreground with 'Nelson' our cat mascot asleep as per usual and Mr Blewitts, rare as hens teeth, American para bike on the right of picture and note the lovely looking P.I.A.T. to the left of the R.S.M.s foot. 'Bring on the Jerry tanks (preferably one at a time)'.
Sergeant major, with a Vickers machine gun on the right, looking towards nothing in particular and wishing the petrol cooker hadn't knackerd up as he is dying for a cuppa!
Yanks slobbing about in British section, making the place look untidy as per usual. The American army wouldnt know smart and tidy if it snuck up behind them and bit them on the bum! How ever it is a good way to see the difference in colour and cut of the heavier wool British pattern 37 battledress compared to the American light wieght uniform. The one advantage of Yank kit over Tommy kit is no bloody blanco-ing as its a sod! Another is movability.
