Rules And Regulations
We are a non-political living history group and are only interested in representing the regiment and the men who served in it to the best of our abilities. The rules and regulations are there to try and make us as authentic and realistic as we can to the public and any ex soldiers who may be watching do not dishonour their memory or their achievements and sacrifices. You wouldn't be here otherwise, please remember that.
1) New P.B.Is (Poor Bloody Infantry) will have thier shoulder titles, divisional badges, arm of service stripes and cap badge paid for by any old hands allready in the group. However should anyone wish to leave they must hand back thier insignia and cap badge to the R.S.M. so as any other newbies can have them as we like to recycle.
2) We are basically a living history group and must endeavour to recreate as accurately as possible a ww2 British soldier at rest and in battle in any static displays and by our actions.
3) All members must abide by the rules and regulations put upon them/us at any event, display and or battle by the event organisers. This includes getting Public liability insurance which will be paid for by the individual with AFRA. http://afra.org.uk/contact.aspx
4) If you are approached by an interested party regarding the regiment, please refer them to either the R.S.M. or Corporal.
5) Everyone has spent a lot of money getting their kit and small arms. Treat others peoples kit as you would expect your own to be treated. Anyone found causing deliberate damage to any item or acting irresponsibly you will be dealt with under disciplinary procedures by the R.S.M. However, you do have the right to appeal and you will not face a firing squad!
6) Do not hand over any item’s to the public especially if it isn’t yours. Always ask permission off the owner’s first.
7) All members to possess a rifle with appropriate bayonet for basic rifle drill and bayonet practice. i.e. SHT.L.E/S.M.L.E. or No.4 Lee-Enfield. No modern or foreign national rifles.
8) No medals are to be worn and no qualification badges to be worn unless permission is granted by the W.O.1.
9) All battledress and kit must be correct. Your representing one of His Majesty’s soldiers act like it. In other words smart and disciplined. Wear your uniform in the correct manner esp. the forage/side cap. Any thing that isn’t suitable you will be asked to remove. No jewellery apart from a wedding ring. No nose or ear rings/studs. If you wear glasses either wear contacts or buy a pair of rounded ones like the sergeant has. No digital watches to be worn. No moustaches, side burns or beards of any kind. Basically it’s just a sort of crew cut.
10) In the event of a public show everyone must try to attend. If you can’t just get in touch with either the R.S.M. or Corporal to let them know. Everyone is to help out when it comes to setting up and taking things down again. Take your litter home or bin it in the appropriate area’s if we leave things tidy we may be asked to come back again.
11) By signing the recruiting form you are agreeing to accept all reasonable rules, regulations and commands given by the W.O.1 and event organisers to within reason. If you have any ideas which you feel could help improve our mob then please feel free to discuss it either in writing or in person at one of our meetings.
12) Never aim your weapon at anyone less than 20 feet away, wether a blank firer or not as you may discharge gunpowder which can burn, blind and at the worst can kill through shock. Make sure you carry on you and possess the correct paperwork for your firearm whether its a de-act or live. Only fire your weapon, if you possess a blank firer, where and when you’ve been told to do so. Abide by all the health and safety regulations, they’re for your benefit and every body else’s to try and insure ‘a good time was had by all‘. Should an accident happen either inform the W.O.1 and/or the health and safety officer at any event’s we are participating at/in/around.
13) It is up to each individual to use common sense at the end of the day. We want to put on a good show and display and not have any bad memories of our time at the shows.
And finally the rules can be updated but only with discussion first. Please remember that we are representing men and women who gave their lives for us and it is them and their memories we are attempting to portray. They had to do what we are attempting to recreate for nearly 6 long years as well as dying, which we aren’t. At the end of the day we can go home which many never got the chance to do.
They shall not grow old as we who are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning.
We will remember them.
God save the King!
