李登輝先生主政期間，國內外對他最重要的評價，在於他一手推動並鞏固民主政治，確立台灣主權優先的本土化路線。由於改革過程的和平與成功，創造出舉世聞名的台灣政治奇蹟，得到了國外媒體「寧靜革命」的讚譽，時代雜誌也因此稱呼李前總統為「民主先生」。

在野黨非理性地杯葛新政府、悖離本土化路線、台灣認同基礎受到威脅時，何以李登輝先生會挺身而出。他希望盡一已之力，維護並強化民主政治的內涵，不要讓十二年來大家共同努力所建立的改革成果，遭受反本土化勢力的摧殘吞噬。
