The 80's began for me when Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer were wed, the 80's ended for me at the fall of the Berlin wall.
President Reagan was shot as well as Pope John Paul II in the same year. Mount Saint Helen's erupted. The AIDS virus was discovered. There was Live Aid, Band Aid and Farm Aid concerts. We saw the PMRC putting ratings on our music and showing offensive album covers like W.A.S.P. to prove their point.
A sad but memorable moment was the day the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded. I can remember sitting in my 10th grade English class and hearing the news over the PA system. The class was shocked. We were immediatly dismissed from school. On the way to the buses I meet up with some of the kids that took computer class and they watched it as it happened. None of them could express what they saw. When I got home and saw with my own eyes what happened I was in shock. Very sad day indeed.
There were the good in the 80's, there was Hands Across America and the invention of Post-It notes. The Statue of Liberty had been redone, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial was erected, the Berlin wall was torn down and we were all taught to "Just say NO"!
The 80's world messsage board, why not drop a line or two about what you recall.
