Hi Ken, Its Sgt Covey here, its been a long time coming, but you know Sgt Mike and I wouldn't forget you. We were all together that night at the quarry. It seems like it was always B company that was getting it the hardest. Mike and I helpped the Medic Vac Team Get you out, we sat with you in the Pleiku Hospital the next day. MICHAEL FRANCIS WEISSERT-Sp5-E5-Army-Regular-22 year old Single, Caucasian, Male-Born on August 6, 1945-From Indianapolis, Indiana-Length of Service 1 year. His tour of duty began on March 24, 1967-Casualty was on October 11, 1967 in Kontum, South Vietnam-Non-Hostile, died of injury-GROUND CASUALTY-BODY WAS RECOVERED-RELIGION-ROMAN CATHOLIC-PANEL 27E-LINE 91. He lost his life operating a Caterpillar D-7E trying to lengthen the Kontum Air Strip when he was struck by the landing wheels of a C-130 Transport on Take Off. He was a terrific Dozer Operator and a Good Friend.
