88 (ARRACAN) BATTERY HISTORY
SILVER PIECE
This is a piece of silver which was commissioned, in early 2001.
The piece shows a 12 pounder gun of Tiger Battery from the 1824 Burma War.
With Five men, and two bulls pulling the gun.
The plinth is made of Indian hard wood, which is the same as that the trails of the Gun were made of at the time.
On one side of the plinth is the Battery History and the other shows the commissioning to celebrate 200 years since the Battery was formed in Calcutta on the 14th of February 1802, as 7th Company 2nd Battalion Bengal Artillery.
The overall height including feet on plinth approx, 12/13”, length overall 20/21”, and width 11/12”.
The overall cost for the finished piece was £ 10,000.
