JOBS Nation’s largest wildlife conservation organization seeks seasoned advocacy media professional to oversee busy and dynamic Communications shop. Position leads team of six communications managers to establish strategic media positioning for National Wildlife Federation issues including global warming, wildlife habitat, endangered species, public lands, tribal partnerships, and water resources. Works with team to determine best media outreach tactics to generate press coverage in support of organization’s positions with emphasis on policy and legislative initiatives.
Qualifications:
Knowledge and experience running advocacy media campaigns, preferably on environmental issues College degree 8 years progressively responsible experience managing team of media professionals Track record of successful press campaigns Hands-on ability to engage top tier media Prefer non-profit experience on advancing green issues. Knowledgeable on all forms of media outreach including print, broadcast, web and blogs.
Position based in DC with minimal time at organization’s Reston headquarters. Some travel required.

The National Wildlife Federation (NWF) seeks an effective, dynamic leader to work with the National Outreach Director and NWF’s ActionTeam to lead grassroots campaigns in support of NWF’s issue agenda. The successful candidate will have strong communication, leadership, team building, and project management skills. This person is part of a highly engaged team of staff working in campaign mode to push the envelope on grassroots engagement.
Responsibilities Include: ? Working with outreach, program, and field staff to design and implement strategic advocacy campaigns. ? Working with NWF’s key constituencies with emphasis placed on hunters and anglers and other nontraditional constituencies. ? Working with all types of grassroots tactics including: grassroots and grasstops engagement, earned and paid media, coalition building, local and national lobbying, and on the ground and online communication tools. ? Engaging activists and volunteers in advocacy and lobby campaigns. ? Managing organizers, contractors, volunteers, and interns. ? Coordinating and communicating NWF’s issue agenda to the field, NWF affiliates, and regional staff. ? Coordinating and conducting grassroots workshops.
Relevant Qualification and Experience: ? B. S. Degree ? Minimum five years of successful job experience in political campaigns or nonprofit advocacy organizations required. ? Attention to detail and ability to multitask required ? Strong written and oral communication skills required ? Experience managing staff, interns, or volunteers required ? Facility with all aspects of Microsoft Office required. ? Experience working with volunteer leadership preferred ? Experience with environmental advocacy and environmental issues preferred.
