| The nine ancient Sisterhoods were each presided over by nine Ban-Draoi under the direction of a Lady known as The Morgen. Each Ban-Draoi led a grove of multiple hearths whose number was determined by the physical and energetic properties of the landscape on which they thrived. At each major Lunar Standstill, an auspicious time of renewal, the web's spiritual "center" shifted and from among The Nine a new Morgen took on the mantle of Nimue ("Great Highest Lady") , sacred embodiment of the Naohm ("Great Ninefold One"). As Priestesses of the Isle of Mists, we work to reclaim our birthright: the power of the feminine divine as it finds expression within us; to heal and develop our inner powers that we may do the Goddess's Will in the outer world. A maiden may study as long as nineteen years before coming into her full authority. Many never come so far. The work is long, arduous preparation for duties including community ritual with the Druid Brotherhood of Iona. King-Makings, Hand-Fastings, and Battle Magics once numbered among our mingled rites. Today we work to reclaim our ancient authority, adapting our craft to the needs of modern peoples and times.
The tribes of the Isle of Mists are many. The ancient schools of Emerald Isle, Mona, Cill Dara [Kildare] and Callanish are already being revived, offering their Mysteries to the aspiring Priestess and Ban-Draoi. In recent times, Orders have begun granting Ordination and opening Pagan Seminaries. While formal study is invaluable, in the end the gods are the only Initiators; it is the Great Goddess Danu alone who makes a Priestess of The Emerald Isle of Mists. the wisdoms of all of the Ninefold Sisterhoods of Emerald are shared. Here the ancient patterns of many interwoven threads find strength again by the Hearthfire... See you the many symbols along the Path? They are as portals to deeper Mysteries; they yield when you are ready. Come you in with open mind, loving heart, and generous spirit and you shall be likewise met. Next Back |
