West Tennessee Amateur Radio Society Linked Repeater System

WF4Q

Thanks for your interest in the WTARS Linked Repeater System. Attached is an application to become a member and we hope you will seriously consider becoming one. The WTARS is a non-profit Tennessee Corporation.

The mobile coverage map helps you determine which repeater to use based on your location. The repeaters are linked by UHF full time- when you talk on one repeater-you talk on all of them at the same time. Be sure and pause for two seconds after you key your mic and before you speak so that all of the repeaters have a chance to come on line. Otherwise, the first few words of you transmission will be lost.

All sites have battery back up and are built with severe weather in mind. The National Weather Service, MEDMERS, the Red Cross, and the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency all make use of the WTARS Linked Repeater System during actual emergencies and disasters.

It costs a lot of money to maintain the system and we can’t do it without your support. If you chose to use the system, we ask that you become a member. The success of the system is directly related to the wonderful support we have had from the amateur community over the past 10 years.

The WTARS Linked Repeater System is an open system during emergency situations.
