Subject: Amateur Radio - PRB-1 Legislation in TN

Dear PIOs & TN Affiliated Club Contacts:
Please Support PRB-1 Legislation Now Pending in Tennessee

This is very important legislation that can effect every Amateur Radio
operator in Tennessee.  Please read the following information, and do your part to help the PRB-1
Legislation become law.  Moreover, print this information and share it with, or email it to, each and every
member of your Affiliated Club, and urge them to write or call their state senator and state
representative expressing support for this legislation.
Thanks to the efforts of several hams across the state, legislators in both the Tennessee House and
Senate have recently introduced bills to prohibit city and county governments from unreasonably
restricting Amateur Radio antennas.  The bills are modeled after the FCC’s PRB-1 but guarantee hams minimum antenna heights of 75 feet, 140 feet or 200 feet depending on population density and the size of the ham’s property.

PRB-1 is an FCC Opinion and Order prohibiting unreasonable local regulation of amateur antennas.  Several other states have considered and/or passed state laws reinforcing the protections afforded by federal law and prohibiting counties and cities from unreasonably restricting amateur radio antennas.  If passed and signed by the governor, these new bills will greatly enhance the ability of Tennessee amateurs to erect reasonable antenna structures.

The full text of the bills can be read at:

The Tennessee Section Manager and Section Cabinet Members urge you to do your part to help these bills become law.  Please write or call your state senator and state representative and urge them to support SB3058 and HB2973.  In addition, please urge your club members to write, call or email their representatives and senators expressing their support for this legislation.
