This page is dedicated to the Ghost who made many rethink thoughts of what a spirit or 'soul 'might be able to do in charge of a space ship in outer space.

BRIEF HISTORY:
This was a Hanna-Barbera Cartoon that ran from 1966 - 1968 on CBS. It premiered on September 10, 1966. They are approximately 8 minute long cartoons that sandwiched another cartoon called Dinoboy In The Lost Valley. These same cartoons were later paired with Frankenstein Jr. in The Space Ghost/Frankenstein Jr. Show in 1976. Space Ghost was an outer space crime fighter who had the ability to turn invisible and had a pair of wrist bands that projected force fields and various rays. He was accompanied by the twins Jan and Jace and their monkey Blip. Jan and Jace usually got in trouble and Blip would get everyone, including Space Ghost, out of it. But when push came to shove it was Space Ghost's powers that came through. Space Ghost has had a resurgence of popularity in the last couple of years on the Cartoon Network on shows like Space Ghost Coast To Coast and Cartoon Planet. These new shows are nothing like the original cartoon and are a parody of talk shows, with Space Ghost as the Master of Ceremonies and Zorak as his Ed McMahon. The rest of his cohorts on the program are who's who of his villians gallery from the original show. As far as I know Jan, Jace and Blip are M.I.A.

Space Ghost won't disappear soon
By Mark Ambrose, Features Editor
Have you ever heard Jay Leno ask a guest, "So what are your superpowers?" Or have you heard David Letterman begin an interview with, "Do you think I'm handsome?" You probably haven't, but wouldn't it be funny if you did?

Move over Letterman, make room for Space Ghost Cartoon Network's late-night talk show will launch into its fourth season this fall by BEN JONESDaily Staff Writer Space Ghost is not your ordinary talk-show host. He is based in outer space and prefers a hood and cape over the industry-standard suit and tie.
He drives around a phantom cruiser, has the ability to become invisible at will and his band leader is a praying mantis. Is it any wonder he is currently giving David Letterman, Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien a run for their money?
The idea for the talk show originated in 1992 when Turner Broadcasting's Senior Vice President of Programming and Production Mike Lazzo was kicking around ideas for publicity stunts for the recently launched Cartoon Network.

SPACE GHOST and his prancing ponies
THE SPACE GHOST EGG! The year was 1981. Cartoons like "He-Man" and "GI Joe" were about to forever change the world of children's television action cartoons by transforming the format into a stage for marketing tie-in toys. One imagines, Hanna-Barbera, the premier American television animation studio of the time, were shaking in their boots. Not to be left behind, they realized they, too, needed to use their tried and true action cartoons to market merchandise.

Space Ghost and Dino Boy
Space Ghost is one of the most popular superheroes to come out of Saturday morning. Unlike comic book heroes Superman, Batman and Spider-Man, Space Ghost originated on television, embodying animation in the 60’s. Legendary animator Alex Toth's use of bright colors, sleek lines and an almost sinister costume gave Space Ghost an undefinable hipness that TV watchers immediately clung to.
CARTOON SUPERHERO TALK SHOW IN WORLD OF ITS OWN
By Mark J. Pescatore
In the 1960s, he was famous for his intergalatic crime fighting. But today, Space Ghost has a new career -- as a talk show host. Considering that he's actually a cartoon, not a real person, it's safe to say that his talk show is one of the most unique programs on television.
Space Ghost Coast to Coast has been part of the Cartoon Network since 1994, with more than 24 episodes under its belt and several more in various stages of production. The show features real guest stars, who communicate with Space Ghost via satellite and appear on the set in a television monitor. Each episode also includes some sort of subplot, which usually disrupts the program in one way or another. Joining Space Ghost for the fun are Zorak, the bandleader, and Moltar, the director. Both are former prisoners of Space Ghost that he recruited from prison to help him with his show
