C146 ROGER de MORAVIA (B131) Son of Archibald ( B130); was granted lands of Fala by charter from James Lord Douglas, 1321. He was succeeded by his son;

C147 JOHN MURRAY (B133) of Fallahill, had a charter of the lands of Philiphaugh, Co. Selkirk, 20 July 1461, and was the ancestor through the eldest son Patrick, of the Murrays of Philiphaugh, John Murray of Fallahill died before 20 February 1477. He was succeeded by his grandson:

C148 JOHN MURRAY Burgess of Edinburgh, who was in February 1505/06 assignee of the executors of William Murray in Sundhope, his fathers brother, as younger brother of Patrick of Fallahill; had charter of the barony of Blackbarony or Hatton, 1507; married 1503/04 Isobel , daughter of Richard Happer; he died at Floodden 9 September 1513; having had by her ( who married 2^nd. Before 27 May 1519, Sir Richard Douglas of Kilspindle) had issue two daughters and a son. He was succeeded by his son;

C149 ANDREW MURRAY OF BLACKBARONY : married 1^st. Elizabeth ( died before 26 May 1533) daughter and heiress of William Lockhart, of Edinbourgh, and by her had issue a daughter.

1. Marion, m. contract dated 14 Dec. 1566, James Pringle of Whitebank, and died May 1585.

He married 2^nd. Contract dated 8 February 1852 Grissel (d. 18 Aug. 1579) widow of Sir William Scott, of Kirkland, and daughter of John Bethune, of Creich and by her had issue;

7. Agnes, married 9 April 1580, her cousin Patrick Murray ( B136) of Fallahill, he died 1601, leaving issue.

C150 SIR JOHN MURRAY, KT. OF BLACKBARONY: Knighted at Stirling, upon announcing to James I ( VI of Scotland) the birth of his eldest son Henry, afterwards Prince of Wales; John married Margaret, daughter of Sir Alexander Hamilton, Kt. Of Innerwick, by howm he had with other issue:

C151 SIR ARCHIBALD MURRAY 1^ST. BART. OF BLACKBARONY: He was knighted by James I when a young man, created Bart. Of Nova Scotia in 1628; married Margaret Maule, a descendant of the house of Panmures. He died before 1634, and had issue:

3. Robert, whose son Robert was of Murray’s Hall.

C152 SIR ALEXANDER MURRAY; 2^ND BART. Of Blackbarony who was a supporter of Charles I, and was fined by Parliment April 13, 1646. He was afterwards appointed by Oliver Cromwell Sheriff of Perthshire, by a commission dated 1 Aug. 1657. He married 1^st. Margaret, daughter of Sir Richard Cockburn and had issue:

2. Richard: of Spittlebaugh; Lieut.-Col. Lithgow and Peebles Mil.; m. 1. Mary, dau of George Brown, but had no issue; he married 2. Jean daughter of Jas. Davidson. And had issue:

C153 SIR ARCHIBALD MURRAY 3^RD. BT. OF BLACKBARONY:

Appointed lieut.-Col. By Charles II on 2 December 1669 of the Militia Regt. Cos. Of Linlithgow and Peebles and by William III 24 December 1689. Master of the Works. He married lady Mary Keith, widow of Sir James Hope, Kt. Of Hopetoun, she was the daughter of William 7^th Earl of Mariscal ,and had issue:

2. Archibald: Capt. In the army; married Naomi, dau. of James Hamilton a cadet of Hamilton, Earl of Clanbrassel, and had only one daughter; Margaret who married H. John Stewart of Ascog ( He assumed the name of Murray) she died 5 April 1771.)

6. Jane , married James Cranston of Glen.

7. Elizabeth, married Samuel Simple, minister of Liberton.

CI54 SIR ALEXANDER MURRAY 4^TH. BT. OF BLACKBARONY: Sheriff deputy Co. Peebles, 4 April 1732. Married Margaret, daughter of William Wallace of Hamilton, but having no issue he executed his estates in1741 in favor of his neice daughter of his brother Archibald. Sir Alexander was succeeded in his title by his cousin Sir William ( C152-2-A ).

C155 SIR WILLIAM MURRAY 5^TH BT. OF BLACKBARONY: DL Peebleshire , who in 1738 sold the lands of Spittlehaugh, which he had inherited from his father. He married Jean dau of …..Allen of Southerland. Leaving Issue:

C160 SIR JOHN DIGBY MURRAY 10^TH BART. OF BLACKBARONY: Lieut.-Col. In the army, served some time in the Scotts fes. Guards, b. 17 april 1798, married 1 april 1823 Susannah ( d. 3 Dec. 1823) daughter of John Cuthbert, and had issue. He d. 8 May 1881.

1.John Cuthbert, b. December 1823, d. at Sanhurst Austrailia 11 May 1861. He married 14 June 1827 Francis ( d. 17 June 1885) daughter of Peter Patten Bold, MP of Bold Hall, Lanc. And had :
