E179  SIR WILLIAM de MORAVIA:  of Sanford, joined Robert the Bruce, was taken prisoner by the English, was sent to London 1306, and remained there until exchanged after the Battle of Bannochburn*.  He was succeeded by his son;

     Sir Andrew de Moravia  ( E180)

* Bannocburn : a name as resounding in Scotland's history as it is inglorious in England's. The actual site of the battle (1314) in which Robert Bruce so spectacularly defeated Edward II is disputed, but most maps seem to agree on the area, about 1 mile north of today's town.

E180  SIR ANDREW de MORAVIA: obtained two charters from King David Bruce, one granting lands of Kepmad 1365, the second 1369 bestowing the lands of Touchadam, Tulchmillar, etc.  He was succeeded by his son;

E181  SIR WILLIAM MURRAY:  of Touchadam , was slain at Flodden. He was succeeded by his great-grandson;

E182  SIR WILLIAM MURRAY:  of Touchadam and Poinaise; a staunce Royalist, was in the engagement of the Duke of Hamilton,  was amerced by Cromwell 1654, in sum 1500 pounds; married Elizabeth, daughter of Sir Alexander Gibson of Durie. He died sortly after 1564 and was succeeded by his son;

E183  JOHN MURRAY :  of Touchadam, served heir to his father 1655; married Janet, daughter of John Nisbet, of Dean, Lord Provost of Edinburgh; succeeded by his son;

E184  JOHN MURRAY:  of Touchadam and Polinaise; married Anne, daughter of Alex Gibson of Durie, and had five sons. He was succeeded by his second son;

E185  WILLIAM MURRAY: served heir to whole establishment, 1729, married 1, Cecilia daughter of Gibson of Durie and had a son and a daughter who died young., he married 2. Anne, daughter of Sir Alex. Gibson, Bart. of Pentland, had three sons and one daughter. He died 1758 and was succeeded by his son:

E186  WILLIAM MURRAY, marrried 1, Margaret daughter of John Callander , and had a son; he married 2. Anne, daughter of Lawrence Campbell and had three sons and three daughters. He died 1814 and was succeeded by his elder son;

E187  WILLIAM MURRAY: Vice.-Lieut.; co., Sterling; Lieut.-Col. of the Yeo.; born 1773; married 1799, Anne, daughter of William Maxwell; was succeeded by his cousin:

E188  JOHN MURRAY:  Vice.-Lieut.; born 1797; married 1830 Elizabeth, daughter of Dr. James Boyce; he died 1862 leaving issue; and was succeeded by his elder son:

          (1)  John; Late of Touchadam,   ( E189)

          (2) James: late of Touchadam    (190)

          (3) Alexander Bruce; of Touchadam   (E191)

          (4) Arthur Bruce b. 1843 d. 1863

          (5) Margaret died 1899

          (6) Lindsay Elizabeth , married 1865 Ernold Smith, d 1904.

E189  JOHN MURRAY:  Lieut.-Col. Gren. Guards; HP and DL, Vice Lieut. of Sterlingshire; b. 1831; married 1, 1859 lady Agnes Graham, daughter of the Duke of Montrose; married 2,  1877 Lucy Evelyn, daughter of James Townly. he died in 1903 and was succeeded by his brother:

E190 JAMES MURRAY:  JP and DL; born 1834, married 1868 Emma, daughter of the late J. Blake; he died 1907 and was succeeded by his brother.

E191 ALEXANDER BRUCE MURRAY:  of Touchadam and Polinaise co. Sterling, DL; Maj. Cameron Highlanders; b. 1840, married 1890 Mary, daughter of the late Cecil M Stephenson, and had issue:

1.  Alastair john Greville; Lieut. J.O Cameron Highlanders, born 1894 died 1914 of wounds received in action (WWI).

2. Mary Elizabeth Marjorie; born 1893; married 1916 Claud Archibald Mackenzie Bruce Hamilton and had issue:

      A. Gavin Alaistair, born 1919

      B. Elizabeth Pamela, b. 1917
