Accomplishments:

* Jan. 2000 

Assessment/review team dispatched to Ailuk to conduct basic infrustracture need.

* Feb 2000

Attended Inaugural meeting of Int'l parliamentarians'Association for
agriculture and Fisheries (IPAAF) in Seoul, Korea. where he spoke to participants from 81 countries. See website photo gallery.

* Mar. 2000

1st Change Circumstances meeting (Washington DC) attended by Senator Alfred representing the mid-level atolls (Likiep, Wotje, Mejit & Ailuk)


* Apr. 2000 

Short/Medium Development Plan for Ailuk was drafted for the first time.

* Jun. 2000 

Development plan introduced by Senator was approved and ratified by the Ailuk Local clouncil

* Jul. 2000

2nd Change Circumstances Meeting (Honolulu) in which Ailuk requested its inclusion in the petition for cc. 

* Aug. 2000

Proposal for funding under the ROC capital development program submitted.


* Oct. 2000

2nd team dispatched for assessment of Basic infrastructure need as follow-up from last visit. 



* Jan 2001

Dispatch materials required for implementation on the following projects: 

(1) Repair Enejelar school - Completed w/in 2 weeks
(2) Basketball Court - Completed in 2 weeks
(3) Plant nursery - Completed in 2 weeks
(4) Clean up and landscaping of the runway - ongoing
(5) Reconstruction of the Terminal - Ongoing



* Mar. 2001

1st shipment - 88 Water Tanks for each household


* Apr. 2001

German-Speaking European Community visited Ailuk. Two things accomplished from this trip:

(1) First time exposure of Ailuk Atoll to European Community.

(2) Literature was developed. Focusing on Ailuk, such production of literary work is geared at promoting potential tourism for Ailuk.(On-going project).



* Apr. 2001

SC & A Scientists dispatched to Ailuk for the purpose of conducting field study as part of the contract to perform comprehensive dose reconstruction on behalf of people who may have been exposed to U.S. NTP fallout.


* Jun. 2001

Changed Circumstances & DOE meeting (at this meeting Ailuk became a party in the comminuque)


* Feb 2002

Senator boarded public landing-craft (YFU-77) with seedlings destined for Ailuk as part of the effort to promote and encourage agriculture/home gardening.  It was a great opportunity to actually utilize the newly built plants nursery on Ailuk



* Jul 2002

2nd shipment of Water-Catchment for Ailuk.



* Aug. 2002

Final report from S. Cohen & Associates (scientist) re dose reconstruction. According to the report the economic value of radiation doses received by inhabitants ranges from as low of about 647,500.000 to more than $2.5 billion.



* Oct. 2002

Additional grant of $80,000 awarded for Ailuk capital development projects.



* Nov 2002

Kejeramman/Commencement/Opening Ceremony - Jikin ikkur eo/multi-purpose recreation ground, plants nursery, Enejelar school building. Attented by RMI President Note & delegation.



* Mar 2003

Senator led the 3rd European visit to Ailuk which composed of volunteer medical team who performed a wide variety of tasks including evaluation and provision of medical services to Ailuk people . Upon completion of such visit, a desalination/purification solar unit was donated to the community by this group.


* Apr 2003

In response to proposal made by the Senator, the government awarded $140,000 for Ailuk Jetty to be build along with other new projects for Ailuk.


* May 2003

Bids for project proposals to include Ailuk Jetty, New community Hall, and Public Shower-Toilet facilities.


* July 2003

Assessment team dispatched to Ailuk to servay project sites. Team comprises of representatives from Ailuk (the Senator), Ministry of Public Works, PII Inc. (contractor), Joemar Construction Inc. (Contractor).

* August 2003

04th: Pre-Bid Conference for Ailuk Infrastracture Projects

18th: Bid Opening for the above-captioned projects.

31st: Ailuk contract with Stoel Rices law firm signed by Senator Alfred re Claim for Property Damage on Behalf of the People of Ailuk.
