Happy Halloween

 

Halloween was approaching fast and all of the kids including Kat were thrilled. She had made some new friends and couldn't wait to go trick or treating with them. Since it was the weekend Kat was going to spend the night with her friends. They had a little slumber party planned complete with all night ghost stories by flashlight and a pig out fest on candy.

 

Back on Angel Island Derek and Nick were busy investigating the local disturbances. The Halloween season brought out all of the pranksters and that kept the Luna Foundation (Legacy) very busy. Alex had been helping them look into some of the occurances, but this particular night she had other plans.

 

It was Halloween and since Kat was spending the weekend with friends, Rachel was going to stay on the island for some adult interaction. The ladies were going to have a little slumber party of their own as soon as Kristin returned. She had been in Boston visiting her brother Ethan and Jane Witherspoon of the Boston house.

 

During her time there Kristin grew to think of Jane as a mother figure. She loved Boston, but everyone at the San Francisco house were a little closer to her age and this is where she felt she belonged for the time being.

 

While this adult slumber party was to be taking place, Derek and Nick would be out for the evening. They had to spend the night in a graveyard to investigate some disturbances. Their research didn't give them enough information to determine whether the things happening there were real or fake. The local teenagers loved their pranks, it was like a right of passage.

 

"Are you going to behave yourself while Nick and I are out for the night?" Derek kissed his wife. "Don't I always?" Andrea innocently looked at him with her seductive blue eyes. "No" Derek gave Andrea his disapproving look. "Why the look?" Andrea asked. "I haven't done anything." "Yet" Derek fished through the closet for his warm jacket, tonight the air had a bit of a chill to it. "You are not very trusting" Andrea pulled Derek's coat out of the closet for him.

 

"Remember I know you" Derek pulled Andrea close to his body. "And you knew what you were getting into when you married me" Andrea informed her husband. "You didn't seem to mind then" the beautiful blonde cuddled a little closer.  "And that last prank you pulled on Nick, left him plotting revenge" Derek lectured. "Where does the maturity go? Does it get tossed out on Halloween? I don't understand." "Nick is right, you are an uptight stick in the mud" Andrea mumbled. "What?" Derek didn't catch what Andrea said.

 

"I can handle Nick" Andrea played with Derek's tie. "And you have to admit, it was funny." "Funny or not, promise me" Derek used his charm on his wife. "I know how you love Halloween and the jokes that come along with it." "I promise" Andrea agreed. "Besides, us girls are going to spend the night talking and stuffing our faces. You know a little girl talk, so, I doubt we will have time for pranks."

 

Derek worked on getting things ready for their stakeout, he would rather have been at home where it was warm but they did have a job to do. He also knew if he didn't have that assignment, Nick and Andrea would be pranking each other all night long and there would be no chance of a romantic evening for two by the fire. For the life of him Derek could not understand why the Halloween season brought out this behavior in two mature adults.

 

"Hello everyone" Rachel walked into the Luna Foundation. "Are we ready for tonight?" "Definitely" Andrea grinned. "All we need is Alex and Kristin to make it home and we are all set." "I thought Amber was flying in for this little girl party?" Nick walked into the room. "I got your little girl" Andrea was a little hostile towards Nick for the lecture Derek gave her. "Looking to get a little smoochy of your own" Alex made it home.

 

"I'm here" Amber finally made it. "Where's my sister?" Alex noticed Amber had arrived right behind her. "You were supposed to be picking her up." "She cancelled" Amber replied. "Last minute date." "Great!" Alex was mad at Tanya. "She bailed on us for a man" Alex went to shower. "Tonight was supposed to be a little fun in no man's land" Rachel commented. "It was supposed to be just us 6 ladies." "Ladies my ass" Nick scowled at the women.

 

"Where's my brother in law?" Amber looked around for Derek. "Why do you want to know?" Andrea asked. "I need to talk to him" Amber replied. "I'm home" Kristin walked into the foyer. "Let me take your bags for you Miss Kristin" Fredrick took her suitcase up to her room. "There you are" Amber grabbed Derek's arm and led him into another room.

 

Amber and Derek went in the living room to talk privately. Since they were having a secretive conversation Andrea went upstairs to get things ready for their night of fun and naughty rated gossip. When he was finished hearing Amber out he headed for his room to finish getting ready for his night out.

 

"So, how much are you paying your little babysitter to keep an eye on me?" Andrea was sarcastic. "That is not fair" Derek walked up behind Andrea. "Our conversation had nothing to do with Amber keeping an eye on you." "My apologies then" Andrea was picking up the dirty things.

 

"If you must know" Derek turned Andrea around to face him. "Amber asked me to do her a favor. Since I am not going to be here tonight, she wanted me to hold on to your birthday present for her. You know how you are when it comes to presents." "I know" Andrea admitted. "Believe me, it's hard hiding something from you" Derek kissed his wife. "She wanted at least just one present to you to be a surprise."

 

"Well, where is it?" Andrea was searching Derek's pockets for her present. "If you don't stop that you might get more than you bargained for" Derek grabbed Andrea's hands. "You can't hide anything from me" Andrea kept searching. "Amber left it in town" Derek smiled. "I am supposed to bring it back with me in the morning." "Not her's; your's?" Andrea asked. "You will get it tomorrow" Derek informed his wife. "Your birthday is not until then." "That's ok, Papa sent me plenty of presents to keep me busy" Andrea grinned at the rather large stack of gifts on the table. "Your father indulges you way too much" Derek looked at the birthday card that said I love you. "When does the big gift arrive?" "Tomorrow" Andrea grinned very big. "Jealous?"

 

Before Derek could respond to that accusation, little by little their private quarters was filling up with unwanted intruders. Derek quietly wished they would leave.

 

"This is going to be fun" Rachel couldn't wait. "It has been a long time since I have had a mature adult conversation." "What's on the agenda?" Kristin sat on the bed. "Horror movies, junk food and some interesting conversation" Alex grinned. "And if we get bored with that we will rifle through Nick's drawers while he's gone." "Let's go see what Alex has in her drawers" Nick took off to her room. "You better not Nick Boyle!" Alex ran after him. "Can I have a few moments alone with my wife?" Derek looked at the remaining women on his bed. "Sure" Rachel, Kristin and Amber got up to leave. "Let's go see what Nick has in his drawers while he is going through Alex's" Amber told the ladies to follow her.

 

Derek waited for the crowd in his bedroom to leave so he could change into some warm clothes. Before he dressed he decided a hot shower would do some good. When Andrea turned down Derek's offer to join him, he knew she was still aggravated with him.

 

"I got lonely" Derek walked out of the bathroom wearing only a towel. "Put your pants on" Andrea handed Derek his jeans. "When are you going to stop being mad?" Derek asked. "I don't think I can wait out your mood." "I don't know" Andrea handed Derek his shirt. "How about tomorrow night, just you and me, a bottle of champagne and a crackling fire for two?" Derek tried to entice Andrea. "I'll entertain the notion" Andrea pulled away. "Do you really have to have your little party in here?" Derek didn't like the idea of his room being invaded. "Yes" Andrea gave Derek a peck on the lips. "It's the only room big enough and has a frig for our drinks." "Have fun" Derek pulled a sweater over his head.

 

Derek finished getting dressed and grabbed his coat, heading downstairs he saw everything they needed sitting in the foyer by the front doors.

 

"Sweetheart!" Derek yelled to Andrea. "I need the keys to your new 4x4."

 

Andrea walked downstairs and handed the keys to Derek so he could pull it around to load it. Derek and Nick double checked their list, marking things off as they loaded what they needed in the vehicle. After everything was loaded Derek picked up his coat and slipped it on.

 

"Do I get a good bye?" Derek smiled charmingly. "Bye" Andrea lowly growled. "You can do better than that" Derek played with Andrea's hair. "I will be gone all night." "Well... you won't let me come with you" Andrea zipped Derek's coat. "My idea of a good evening is definitely not sitting in a heated vehicle with Nick all night long" Derek kissed Andrea. "You could stay and have a little fun with us" Andrea let go of Derek's zipper. "I have nothing to wear" Derek smiled. "That's all right, neither do we" Andrea teased.
