      Welcome to...

 The Masters of Trivia Game

Rules and Regs:

Questions are posted by the Trivia Master and by players. Unless otherwise stated, each question is worth 10 points. Correct answers gain you points, which are then tallied on the Masters of Trivia Scoreboard.  For each question you post, you get 1 point, also tallied on the Scoreboard.  For reaching 1,000 points, 5,000 points, 10,000 points, 20,000 points and 50,000 points you will (1) earn a Masters of Trivia Title, (2) be recognized in the Masters of Trivia Game Room and (3) the Trivia Master will create a certificate naming you and designating your appropriate title to be displayed in the Gallery of Masters.

If you post questions:

  • Please first send the question and answer with any supporting documentation necessary to the Trivia Master.  Any question not first emailed to the Trivia Master will be deleted.
  • If a player posts a question and no one gets the answer correct with in 24 hours, the player posting will get the points. (Unless the Noggin Rule is invoked.  See below for details.)  The posting player must post a reply telling the Trivia Master that the question was not answered within the 24 hours to get the points as the Trivia Master often misses these types of things.
  • The player posting the question also has the option of invoking the Current Contents of  Your Noggin Only Rule: Honor System Applies.  The Noggin Rule states that once the question is opened, a player may not use any source to look up the answer for 24 hours.  After that time, if the question is not answered correctly, a player may use any source available to answer the question, including the internet or any hints the poster of the question may give.  Again, the posting player must post a reply telling the Trivia Master that the question was not answered within the 48 hours to get the points as the Trivia Master often misses these types of things.

Here are the guidelines:

1. The question will be open for 24 hours, unless the Noggin Rule is invoked, then it will be opened for 48 hours.  After 24 hours, or 48 hours if it is a Noggin question, if the question has not been answered correctly, the player posting, should post a reply advising the Trivia Master of this status and leave the question open for play.
2. The player can still set the points for questions, keeping in mind the spirit in which the Trivia Master sets points, i.e., 10 points a pop; however, the Trivia Master reserves the right to change the amount of points the player has set and has final say in awarding the points.
3.  Please make sure you email the Trivia Master the question, answer and any supporting documentation.  If you don't, the question will be deleted and no points will be awarded.
4. The Trivia Master will be final judge on all disputes of answers, according to the guidelines.

  • Be careful with wording; be sure the question asks what you intended.
  • Be certain you are correct.  Remember to check the validity of anything you find online.
  • Sexually explicit questions and posts will be removed and repeated offenses will get you banned from the entire site.

Once your questions have been answered,  the Trivia Master will delete the thread.   Points will then added to the Awards Page.

  • If you answer questions:
  1. Please don't violate any copywrite laws.  Do not plagerize in your answers.  If you copy and paste, please cite your answers accordingly.
  2. If a player invokes the Noggin Rule, please don't use any outside sources for 24 hours.
    NO using books.
    NO using internet.
    NO asking friends.
NO looking up the answers anywhere.
    ONLY using personal memory.
  3. The Trivia Master realizes that there is no real way to police this rule and that the honor system applies.  But come on, don't be a cheater.  That's just poor sportmanship.  Do you really want the points that badly?
  4. Please remember that this is just a game.  No one is out to cheat anyone else.  If you disagree with the answer the poster says is correct, contact the Trivia Master with your explanation and reasoning.  Resources help.  For this game, any hard copy resource will outweigh anything found on the Internet, with the following exceptions:
  • if the question is about a person and their own homepage (one they themselves make, not one made about them) agrees/disagrees with something in print, that will usually be considered evidence enough
  • something on TLC, Discovery, or any affiliated channels will have the same weight as text, except for A&E (especially the Biography series) as they are not wholly accurate.
  • if the question is unanswerable: What year was the Sphinx built?  Unanswerable - no one knows.  What year do modern archeaologists now think the Sphinx was built?  Answerable.

3. Being an "expert in a field" does not mean you are automatically correct.

The questions will be deleted once answered and the points tallied.  Please post "Don't delete" under a question if you need it to be saved while you research.  *Remember to later post and let the Master know that it can be deleted.

*In the case of any dispute, the Trivia Master has the final decision.

Keep in mind, poor sportsmanship and/or rude behavior will get points taken away from your total score.

By playing this game, you agree to the terms above.

Thanks and have fun!
