Your sins are already paid for, now simply turn to Christ. Peter says in Acts that we must Repent, and be baptized. Repent- means to truely turn from your sins, and ask God to forgive you Baptized - to be submerged in water, in the name of Jesus Christ - it is for the remission(washing away) of your sins  THEN the GIFT of the Holy Ghost can come to dwell in your heart. This is the miraculous infilling of Gods Spirit in us, Jesus living in our hearts. Evidenced by the speaking of other tongues, as the Spirit gives the utturance. (Romans 5:8-12,Acts 10:43, 47-48, Acts 2:38) (Act2:4, 10:44-48, 19:5-6)
