We wish there were NO RULES here at Art. However, there must be a few guidelines so there will be no misunderstandings in the future.

All art displayed on this site is owned and © copyrighted by the artist who created it. Do not download and use any work of art from this site without the express, written consent of the artist who created the work. It is unlawful to download and use the work of another without consent whether the work bears a copyright symbol or not.

No nude images may be posted in the albums, nor on the message boards, of Art. This rule is mandated by MSN and does not necessarily reflect the opinion of the members of Art, nor Art's management team. We must comply and post no nude images, and delete any and all images depicting nudity, or run the risk of being closed down permanently. None of us want to see that happen.

All members must supply an e-mail address. This allows the management team to contact you if needed, as well as allowing other members to contact you for discussions and issues which might better be covered privately. In lieu of providing an e-mail address on your Member Profile page, you may elect to supply it to the managers who can act as a go-between in the event a member would like to contact you personally. But in ALL cases, you must provide an e-mail address, either on your Member Profile page or to the management team.

Before joining the message boards please fill out your Member Profile, i.e., your location in this big ol world, i.e., country, state, province. Nothing specific like home addresses. And please indicate your artist interests, like what mediums you work in, what styles or periods of art, maybe Classical, Renaissance, Cubism, Abstract, etc. Tell us a little about yourself, what hobbies do you enjoy, what areas of interest might you desire to learn more about, etc. This helps the members to better understand who they are interacting with.

We want to welcome you! But we can't do that if you don't participate. So join in the message boards BUT please, give us "fair notice." A small introductory message to the members will bring us running. For those of you who are shy: please understand, we all know how important it is to have peer review and input, we all want and need input. So if you want to be acknowledged, acknowledge the members first by saying "hello."

When replying on the message boards, please keep your reply on that topic thread. It becomes confusing and taxes the message page to have multiple replies as separate topics. If you would like to communicate a thought to a member, e-mail them.

If you're going to show us your art, we ask that you make up an album. ONE album per member please. Your album must have no less than 5 pictures. We're interested in seeing your art, but we have had too many drive by album postings with one to three pictures and we never hear a word from these folks. It makes the albums section unmanageable. We want serious artists, whether students or pros.

Copyright. As we all are aware, copying someone else's work is a very common occurance. If you have done so, for learning reasons, please be so kind as to acknowledge and give credit to the original artist. Simply say so alongside your picture in your album. Your integrity as an artist is important.

We do not permit soliciting (SPAM) on the message boards. NO exceptions. Additionally, we do not permit the use of our albums section as a means of promoting or soliciting.

Please consider putting your best mug shot in our "Member's Faces" section. But please, one picture only. If you want to show more, put those in your personal album.

WARNING: If you have joined ART and selected the "instantly receive messages in your e-mail" you are NOT going to find it very enjoyable. You will receive a deluge of e-mail posts from this Group which will be unintelligible to you for the most part, not to mention clogging your specified e-mail allotment of space. We suggest you un-subscribe to instant e-mail messages and just save this site in your "Favorites" section of your browser and come read the messages and related posts personally. This way you're sure to enjoy this Group's active message board.
