Proposed schedule of training and competitions for 2007.

Dates are for Tuesday night sessions.

Activities are for the Foil squads, the Epee squad does their own thing.Thursday session will have a similar but simplified version of the same activities. Both sessions will also have footwork and basketball or soccer warmups.

6 March – training - parries in quarte, counter-sixt, octave and primé.

13 March – training -simple and direct attacks to shoulder, waist, chest and stomach.

20 March – training -quarte parries with ripostes to shoulder, waist and stomach.

27 March – handicap matches (15 points).

 

3 April – training -coupé attacks, from chest to shoulder, from chest to waist and from shoulder to chest.

10 April – team competitions

17 April – training - Ken's away so other coaches will take charge for this night.

24 April – handicap matches.

 

1 May – training -counter-sixt parries while stationary, while retreating, as engagements and as stop hits. Advanced fencers also do counter-sixt parries with flick to shoulder.

8 May – team competitions

15 May – training -disengage attacks, disengaging quarte to shoulder, disengaging quarte to waist, disengaging counter-sixt .

22 May – training - Beginners - octave parries against right hander, primé  parries against left hander. Advanced fencers - repetition training of disengage counter-sixt with lunge from point in line position.

29 May – handicap matches.

 

5 June – training - flèche attacks direct, as disengagement of quarte and counter-sixt, and as counter attack. Advanced fencers also do fleche with counter riposte.

12 June – team competitions.

19 June – training - Beginners - point in line attacks, stationary with disengage, point in line with a lunge, and point in line disengaging with a lunge. Advanced fencers - repetition training of coupé with flick to shoulder.

26 June – handicap competition.

 

3 July – training - Beginners - stop hits, attack on preparation and boar’s thrust, counterattacking in opposition to high line attacks and against low line attacks, also counter riposting with a redouble of the attack. Advanced fencers - repetition training of coupé with flick to waist.

10 July - monthly teams competition

17 July – Winter tournament, open foil pool play and direct elimination competition

24 July – Winter tournament, épée competition with pool play and 10 point quarter finals and 15 point semi finals and final.

31 July – Winter tournament, intermediate foil pool play with top five advancing to a final pool.

 

7 August – Winter tournament, sabre competition

14 August – monthly team competition.

Subsequent training and competitions will be determined at this time.
