38th Alabama Infantry Volunteers -
Many members of Company B, 4th Alabama Volunteer Militia, The Autauga Minute Men, left Camp Shorter near Loachapoke, AL, made the trip to Ft. Gaines, and enlisted into the regular Confederate Army as members of Company H, 38th Alabama Infantry Regiment, The Bell Rifles. Later, Captain Ben Lane Posey recruited in this area and enlisted a few other Autauga County men into the 38th. Art Green has put together this wonderful site about the 38th Alabama Infantry Volunteers. He has included Background Information about the Regiment, Company Rosters, Burial Locations, Photos of Vetrans, Links, and other Special Features.

Albert J. Pickett's History Of Alabama -
Resident of Autauga County & Alabama's first historian, Albert James Pickett spent more than seventeen years collecting the material for hishistory.  Pickett began writing his History of Alabama in 1847. It was published in 1851 and, after having gone through several editions to 1900, was out of print until 1962, when it was republished as a sort of historical curiosity.

Graveyards Of Chicago -
Graveyards of Chicago is the work of Matt Hucke, a UNIX consultant living in Rogers Park, on the north sideof Chicago. Included within his site is Confederate Mound, Oak Woods Cemetery, Chicago, Illinois. Confederate Mound is the resting place of over 6000 Confederate soldiers who died while POWs at Camp Douglas, Chicago, Illinois. Included among those buried there are several Autauga County soldiers, whose names are listed on the copper plates at the base of the Confederate Dead Monument.
