Knit- A- Thon: October 12, 2002
Hand and Machine Knitters from as far away as Los Angeles and Chicago, IL came to Modesto, CA to knit for charity. We shared lunch, laughs, and knitting tips as we worked to help men, women and kids stay warmer during the winter. The gentleman on the L matched us stitch for stitch! He was the soon-to-be husband of one of the ladies.*For The Curious*... I am on the far R. LOL!
Here, my daughter, Chloe, modeled one of the many hats made and donated by participants, along with baby layettes and lap blankets. The items were divided between N CA Bond Club and EP Caps4Kids (see LINKS section for contact info). Donations were distributed to small local shelters, rest homes, and the Modesto Salvation Army.
These were knit for the 2002 Knit-A-Thon. I knit the hat and Chloe knit the booties on her Barbie Knitter. We attached a little gift card to the donations, and packed them up in tissue and gift bags from the dollar store.
Here is the entire layette (hat, booties & blanket).
These were hand knit by Eunice V. of Modesto for the 2002 Knit-A-Thon. All pictured donations were made to the Modesto Salvation Army Shelter Downtown.
