Please be aware that all images on this and the following pages have been scanned and loaded by me for baillieston.net © 2006 but despite that they are not my property but could be said to be part of the Baillieston story and therefore could be said to belong to every Bailliestonian and part of the heritage of the village. The content of those images (the important written part) of course remain the work of Archie Leitch and Jim Wotherspoon, June 1951. Copyright of which remains in force for 70 years after the death of the last one of the authors. I have [unsuccessfully] tried to locate descendants of the authors for permission to publish these pages from the book. If any such persons have issue with the reproduction please email me.

- Robert Murray

The following book presented here which was published in the summer of 1951 is the very first attempt to address the history of Baillieston and the surrounding district. It was the work of two local men who felt passionately enough about the village and its environs to devote considerable time and effort in research and writing this record. Some points of view of the authors might be astray - but they should be excused for that. They were the 'trail blazers' of local history in the Baillieston district.
