Welcome to Barbie's Secret Created July 2000 Winter Bride 2007 Barbie : My Own Design This group features our favorite girl, Barbie Millicent Roberts, and her many family and friends in a number of memorable ways. Born on March 9, 1959, Barbie is the eldest daughter of George and Margaret Roberts from the fictional town of Willows, Wisconsin. Barbie has several siblings: Skipper (1964), Tutti and Todd (twins, 1966), Stacie (1992), Kelly (1994), and Krissy (1999). Barbie attended Willows High School and Manhattan International High School in New York City. Ken Carson became Barbie's long-time boyfriend in 1961. Although Barbie graduated from college in 1963, she and Ken have managed to maintain their relationship for more than 40 years! Our girl officially debuted on the American market in March 1959 at the New York City American Toy Fair. Presented as a teenage fashion model, Barbie was presented in a white carton with a black stand and a little catalog that illustrated a variety of lovely outfits. With those eyes averting their glance downward and an extensive adult wardrobe, Barbie was sophistication personified. No other doll has such a prepared history or clan of loving friends, pets, and family like our Barbie. Unlike any doll before her, Barbie lives in a world of luxurious houses, cars, campers, and motorbikes accompanied by an entourage of friends, little sisters, animals, and a wardrobe that not even Princess Diana could have dream up. Barbie currently owns approximately 17 dogs, 11 horses, 5 cats, a parrot, a chimpanzee, a panda, a lion cub, a giraffe, a zebra, a dolphin, and a whale. Wearing garments fashioned by such famous designers as Coco Chanel, Christian Dior, Calvin Klein, and Bob Mackey to name just a few, Barbie adds about 120 new outfits to her ever-expanding closet each year. My daughter played with 13 Barbie dolls, two houses, three cars, and two swimming pools. Barbie's real estate took up the entire floor in my child's bedroom! After I found my daughter's Barbie dolls in my mother's attic in 1998, I began collecting the dolls in earnest. I was fortunate enough to find 6 of my daughter's dolls and one of her Barbie doll houses. Although I love the vintage Barbie because she is the doll of my childhood, I have a variety of Barbie dolls in my collection. My granddaughter enjoys many of the dolls in my collection along with her mother's 1980 Barbie doll house and a three-story wooden Barbie doll house that I made. Take a look at how Barbie was first introduced to me when I was a child by clicking on the links below: I started sewing for my Barbies when I was 8 years old, and I enjoy sewing for the dolls in my collection today. Over the past few years, I photographed and featured many of my dolls on my website. Take a few moments to peruse the numerous photo albums that I have designed and enjoy yourself in this magical world of Barbie's Secret!
