AMY'S PEN PALS OF THE PAST
This is Chris Caproni. She lived in St. Ann, MO while I wrote to her.
(I love the headphones in this picture! Didn't we all have a pair of those? The better to crank Roller music!)
The back of this photo says, "Chrissy & Tiger, Jan. 19, 1980"
This photo of Chris was taken August 16, 1979 while she attended Pattonville High School. She was a Sophomore, apparently graduating in 1982.
I visited St. Louis in 2002, checked the local phone directory and found no Capronis at all. We used to write each other once a week, like clockwork. If our letter came on a different day than usual, we became worried. As we grew older and acquired more complicated lives, we stopped writing.
Downtown St. Louis -- May 6, 1978
Chris sent me this photo. On the back it reads, "To Amy & Woody, Here is a pic of the Rollers' handprints at Peaches Records and Tapes. Hope you like it! Love ya tonz, Chris & Derek"
Leslie Hutton was my pen pal from Edinburgh, Scotland. He originally was my friend, Sandy's, pen pal, then I started writing to him, too.
This is Leslie and his sister, Dawn taken on New Year's Day 1980.
Leslie at Whitley Bay, England in 1979.
On the border between Scotland and England.
I remember him saying he wanted to be a nurse. I also remember him having relatives in Canada as well as Australia. I remember especially that he visited his relatives in Canada.
This photo was taken March 1, 1980.
Colin McKee of Rosetta Stone, Ian Mitchell's band after leaving the Rollers with the back of Biggi's head.
Biggi is the only name I know for this girl from what was then West Germany. She used to tell her parents she was going to spend the night with a friend and instead go over to England and even Ireland to see Rosetta Stone. She was fluent in English and was even up on all the latest slang.
"Nancy and Eric"
Nan is all I can remember as far as her name. She had a twin brother. They lived outside Cleveland, Ohio. On the back of this photo it says, "78-79 Amy, You're a very good friend of mine and deserve all you want out of life. I hope we meet someday. May God bless you! Love, Nan."
This photo was taken at Cleveland G-98 Radio Station on May 20, 1977. It was sent to me by Nan, but I don't think she took it or was even there at the time the picture was taken. Anyone know anything more about this photo or the event itself?
