We lived for this day...the Roller concert!!!
March 17, 1977
Me with my new copy of "It's A Game" that I bought the day it came out here, July 7, 1977 (that's 7-7-77, by the way.) I'm holding my ticket for the Roller show. Below is a picture of the ticket after it was torn in half and my State Fair admission ticket. (This is the classic "Mom chopped my head off" shot!)
$5.00 to see the Rollers!!!
Our show actually happened on August 23, 1977.
Article above appeared in the newspaper July 26, 1977.
This is the crowd of fans, waiting outside the gates at the grandstands at the Indiana State Fair. We waited all day, from morning until evening, to get in to see the Rollers' concert. This was August 23, 1977. The girl with her back to the camera with the Leslie McKeown shirt on is Beth's cousin, Denise. I'm sorry to say I don't know her last name, but I believe she went to Speedway High School. I think the girl standing up high next to the gate with the blonde hair and suspenders is named Erica. I'm pretty sure she went to Eastwood Middle School here in Indianapolis.
This is the other side of that crowd. I believe the girl in the front off to the right with the white sailor hat and the tartan stripe down her leg is Connie Rippey. She went to School #91 and Broad Ripple High School in Indianapolis.
This picture of Woody was taken by Beth Montgomery at the Indy show. She left us and worked her way up to the front. I should have stuck with her!!!
This is Tam, telling us to sit down on the dirt track or the Rollers wouldn't come back out. (Since I worked on this page originally, I've found out that this wasn't Tam, that it was their road manager for this particular tour. Either way, it sucked!)
Can you tell that this is Eric, playing guitar in his sexy shorts?
