Two things
1. I highly advise renewing your passport ASAP. Canada's Department of Foreign affairs RECOMMENDS passport be valid for 6 month after the stay
for Canadian Citizens visiting Colombia
DFAIT Travel report for Canadian
and here :
A valid Canadian passport should be carried for all visits outside Canada, and it is required for Canadians intending to visit Colombia. The passport should be valid for at least six months beyond the date of your expected return to Canada
Here is the passport office web site
AND HERE is a few rush services our government offices offer
Rush canadian passport service
| Service | Turnaround | Fee |
| Urgent | next working day | $70 + passport fee |
| Express | 2 to 9 working days after receiving application | $30 + passport fee |
2. HOWEVER, it appears from the web site of the Colombian Consulate http://www.travel-net.com/~embcolot/menueng.htm That it only needs to be valid until after you left info consulate.
Address:
360 Albert St., Suite 1002
Ottawa, ON. CANADA

Tels: (613) 230-3760
230-3761
Fax: (613) 230-4416
obviously we don't rely on web sites, we check things ourselves.
3. BUT don't take this risk - and you need to renew it anyways for future travels. If you read the requirements of at the back of the World of Vacations book, your passport MUST be valid for six months afterwards of trips for World of Vacations reasons:
World of Vacations can refuse you admission on the plane and not give you a cent, also your travel insurance will likely not cover this loss.
(Sunquest has a similar rule - though there's says you must have proper documentation)
so get it now!!!

New Requirements for Permanent Canadian residents
(landed immigrant status)
Effective December 31, 2003, all permanent Canadian Residents (landed immigrants) are required to hold the new wallet-sized Permanent Resident (PR) card in order to re-enter Canada . The PR replaces the IMM 1000 Record of Landing document. As of December 31, 2003, landed immigrants returning to Canada without a valid PR card will not be permitted to board their commercial carrier (airplane, boat, train or bus). For more information on the PR card, please call 1-800-255-4541, or visit http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pr-card/
Passports are recommended for Domestic Travel. In the past, a driver's licence was sufficient for domestic travel, however, in addition to carrying a passport for US and International travel, travellers are now advised to carry their passport for all Domestic travel.
Renewing a Passport
All Canadian citizens are now required to produce the following documentation to renew a passport: For persons born in Canada, you must provide EITHER your Birth certificate or a Certificate of Canadian Citizenship. For persons born outside Canada, you must provide ONE of the four citizenship documents below:
- Certificate of Canadian Citizenship
- Certificate of Naturalization
- Certificate of Retention of Canadian Citizenship
- Certificate of Registration of Birth Abroad
NOTE!!!! For Canadian Citizens born in Quebec, the Canadian Passport Office no longer accepts the paper Birth Certificates issued before 1993(?). You need to get a new Quebec Birth Certificate issued, and that can take a few weeks, so rather than be disappointed it's probably a good idea to replace that old paper Birth Certificate NOW!
The processing fee is now $85 for an adult passport.
