| WELCOME TOUR FOR NEW MEMBERS For new members, let me offer an introductory tour of the community. Our most important page is the Discussion Boards, where we do the bulk of our business in considering important issues. You'll find four articles under there, I think you'll want to familiarize yourself with the Code of Conduct right away, and take a look at the others before long. Next we have our Chat Area, which, unfortunately, hasn't been too wildly popular, but which has enjoyed some intermittent worthwhile discussions under the leadership of my esteemed co-manager, the lovely and talented anilize. Our Favorites page is a collection of member recommendations for books, audio, and video. You can read what we suggested or add your own (don't worry about the Amazon.com links, I write those myself). The Links Directory is a categorized list of links that you may find useful and fun, either as a writer or just as a fan. For a more businesslike set of links, try our Research Links page, a long list of links pages by category to help you do as much honest research and fact-checking for your stories as you can humanly stand. And once you've got the story written and edited, you can check out our Market Contacts page, our pride and joy, to find a place to sell your fiction. Later on, our About the Authors page is our list of short biographies, where you can learn a little more about your fellow members, and even tell us a little about yourself (nothing you don't want to share). The Photo Album is a photo album—but you knew that. Story Files is a selection of member-written stories, some old, some fairly new, and you can add your own, too, if you want. Finally, we also have a BHS Webring, just in case you have a website of your own. Well, that's the place. Settle in, make yourself at home, and get to know us. I'll close with the member list. Please feel free to come back often and join in anything you'd like! |
