Asimov's Science Fiction

Edited by Gardner Dozois. Superlatives are hard to apply in a market as fractured as science fiction. However, for fans of character-driven and sociological science fiction, "Asimov's" must surely be the top of the line. Through the years it has enjoyed a number of skillful and discriminating editors. This title has been lavished with awards for its content and management. It has the longest unbroken publishing history of any SF magazine currently in print. And its subscription numbers have been traditionally the strongest in the genre market. "Asimov's" is easily the best buy in SF mags today. With stories excellently chosen by Gardner Dozois that at least stick comfortably within the genre, entertaining and illuminating essays by enduring author Robert Silverberg, and informative, concise book reviews, this magazine covers the gamut of science fiction.

Realms of Fantasy

Edited by Shawna McCarthy.

A bi-monthly, glossy, full-sized magazine featuring a brod spectrum of fantasy, from the traditional to the modern to the experimental, this title is at the forefront of literary fantasy.  It has provided a home for writers both typical of the genre and non-traditional, and its influence and subscriber base continue to expand.  It also provides some excellent book and movie reviews, artist profiles, and other fantasy-related content—one recent article detailed how to dress to fit in at Renaissance fairs.  This is a perfect entry into the field of fantasy fiction, and a door into a growing field that is increasingly establishing itself as separate from science fiction.
