Universal's first all-star monster fest, originally announced as Chamber of Horrors and The Devil's Blood, based on a story by Curt Sodimak.
The first half of the film concerns Dr. Gustav Niemann (Karloff excellent as the mad-scientist) and a homicidal hunchback named Daniel (Naish) escaping from an insane asylum and taking over a traveling horror show after killing the owner (Zucco). Chased by Atwill's police inspector, they revive' Baron Latos (Count Dracula), wonderfully played by Carridine, complete with top hat.
The second half picks up where Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman left off. They arrive at Castle Frankenstein, where they find the Wolf Man (Chaney as Larry Talbot, still seeking a cure) and the Frankenstein Monster (Strange). In the end the villagers put a stop to it all and the Monster and Neiman sink in quicksand. A little bit contrived but hard to dislike. Sit back and enjoy it on a rainy night.
