Okay, so, since I can't put all of my hobbies in the "Hobbies" section, I like soccer, fashion and clothing, cinema, collecting, cooking and dining, books and literture, entertainment, food and drink, government and politics, internet, law, outdoor activities, all music except country and boy bands, animals, I'm more spiritual than religious, basketball, in-line skating, travel, and T.V. Books, books and more books. I've amassed about 3,000 in the last 15 years. That's not counting all the ones still at my mother's house that I never managed to bring over.... I re-read them when I go back every year (a few at the time). I like most kinds of books, from European comics (Asterix, Lucky Luke, Olivier Rameau) and children's books like Harry Potter to Nietzsche. Love good mysteries (Elizabeth Peters, P.D. James, Elizabeth George, Caleb Carr etc), love a good laugh (Wodehouse, Oscar Wilde). Can't stand Danielle Steele and the like but appreciate Diana Gabaldon for her sense of humor. Hate horror - gives me nightmares!!! Don't much like biographies - not many people I'm interested in to that point - only ones I enjoyed were Dali's and Wilde's. Mostly enjoy novels (not romances).
The Little Prince, Alice in Wonderland and Harry Potter.
Thus Spoke Zarathustra, Friedrich Nietzsche
Diary of a Genius, Salvador Dali
Time's Arrow, Martin Amis
The God of Small Things, Arundhati Roy
Fado Alexandrino, Antonio Lobo Antunes
The Hitch Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy, Douglas Adams
Brave New World, Aldous Huxley
One Hundred Years of Solitude, Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Blindness, Jose Saramago
Beloved, Toni Morrison

I'm from the island of Madeira (know where that is???), lived in London for 3 years and then moved to theStates.
I have 2 boys (16 and 7). My hobbies are reading (of course) and yoga. I speak English, Portuguese, French and can make do in Spanish, can understand Italian but can't speak it well. I travel often - love it. I'd love to be able to talk "books" with someone out there...

I like computer games and console (video) games.  I love to read, hike, and strangely enough to work with children.  Some people say they like working with kids meaning that they don't mind, but I actually enjoy and look forward to it.  That is the major factor in my decision to become an elementary school teacher.  Umm...that's all for now, but I plan on updating this occasionally.
This will definetly be an incomplete list until I get some time to brood over it.

DUNE by Frank Herbert
-The work that went into this book as far as ecology, economy, religion, society, etc would make it worth reading even if it didn't have an engaging plot, which it does.

The Swords (not quite sure on the name) by Fred Saberhagen
-This was a great series.  I loved the interplay between the swords of power.  It was full of strategic genius and it like the previous book on this list obviously required a lot of thought and contemplation before being written.

Dragonlance  this series has multiple authors
-Great fantasy series.  It has rich backgrounds that are still being added to as you read (which is really neat).  For example, I read the last mini-series in the series first, and then read the first mini-series.  While I read the first few books, I realized that the people I was reading about were the hero's of old and legends that were being discussed during the first few books I had read.
Books I have read since joining this community:

Books I am currently reading:
The Mansion by William Faulkner

Stories I have read since joining this community:

I have many, many favorites.  Some are Gone with the Wind, To Kill a Mockingbird, and all of Chaim Potok's books.  I like just about every type of literature.  Currently I am reading The Two Towers, along with The Greatest Generation and some Iris Murdoch.  My favorite "classic" authors are Hemingway, Faulkner, Willa Cather, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Jane Austen, Edna Ferber, Jack London, and many, many more.
Since I retired I have been able to become active in a group that supports and raises funds for my local library.  We have a wonderful timesorting through donated books, (reading a lot of them before we pack them for our sale), selling them, and having book discussion group meetings.  We spend a lot of time talking about books and authors, of course.

I also love to design web pages and run several MSN Group for various friends.
I am a big Harry Potter fan, and as a former teacher I advocate getting children to read however possible. I love romance books but I am very picky about how a book is written and how the characters develop before I will recommend it.
My favorite authors range from Suzanne Brockman, to Nora Roberts, along with Jane Austen to J.K.Rowling.
