***** A Love Affair With Music

By Lady Capricorn.

                        To My Choices !

                      My Music

                                      My music

is an old bottle of perfume

                     discarded, but not forgotten;

                            clinging obstinately

                                to remind me

                         with its lingering scent -

                         a promise; a fulfillment.

                                 (ALV, 8/23/87)

( as arranged alphabetically by computer)

Recommended by Bella , 8/4/2005.

****** A Rainy Night In Georgia

By Brook Benton; Mandy Crawford.

First time I heard this- ( while in bed ready to doze off), I was barely 2 or 3 months in Bangkok - quite homesick, naturally. The song - not quite mainstream - wasn't regularly on air, so I had to ask my sister to request the Filipina dj - ( her friend) to spin it every once in a while.

Recommended by Bella , 5/21/2002.

******* Billie Jean

By Michael Jackson.   Listening to this awesome syncopated rhythm , and watching the video is one spine-tingling experience, everytime!  Michael is electrifying, galvanizing; a stage-act genius non pareil. Recommended by Bella , 5/21/2002.

******* Close To Heaven

By Color Me Badd.         The melody is sweet, truly a typification of the gentler, more melodious sounds turned out by some boy bands. Recommended by Bella , 5/24/2002.

******* Feelings

By Morris Albert.                I really love this song!  And not because it's Imelda Marcos' favorite, or because the composer/singer got married to a Filipina.  This was THE song that lulled my days-old Katrina to sleep, as I cooed along with the melody.  When I hear it now, the feelings I had as a new mother come back like waves wafting me! Recommended by Bella , 5/22/2002.

******* How Do You Keep The Music Playing?

By James Ingram.        This one's truly beautiful!  The first time I heard this was in Tacloban, in our Marasbaras residence, in bed at midnight, fighting off depression - ( or can we really win the fight?) I had a good cry! Recommended by Bella , 1/17/2005.

******* I Didn't Mean To Love You

By Merci Molina of the Phil..      I 'm not quite sure who the original singer of this song was,  but the one that I heard and loved - in my 20s - was sung by a Filipina diva, Merci Molina, whose mellifluous and expressive rendition just went straight to my .! Recommended by Bella , 11/6/2002.

******* I Saw Her Standing There

By The Beatles.

If ever there's one ultimate song that evokes those giddy, angst-ridden uncertainties and bliss of my high school days, this is it!

Recommended by Bella , 5/24/2002.

******* If Ever I Would Leave You; I Loved You Once In Silence

By from the musicale, CAMELOT.

     Broadway songs I really love!

Recommended by Bella , 5/21/2002.

******* It's Cold Enough To Snow

By Alan Menken; soundtrack: Life With Mikey. Oh, I just love Menken's music!  From the soundtracks of  Hunchback of Notre Dame and Pocahontas, to Beauty and the Beast. This song that I've singularly picked is simply heart-filling! Recommended by Bella , 6/7/2001.

******* Never, Never, Never

By Shirley Bassey.         I guess this is the song that tells about my angst - or anybody's. When I sing this, I feel completely one with it, as you can see here. Recommended by Bella , 6/7/2002.

******* Roman Guitar; Brazil, and all the songs in this tape

By .    It had become a tradition with us in our Marasbaras household - playing this tape of cool Latin beats during festive occasions.  There's nothing like having unobtrusive, low-key, yet upbeat sounds in the air on fiestas at home! Recommended by Bella , 3/11/2002.

******* Something Stupid

By Frank & Nancy Sinatra; The Lennon Sisters.      Always brings me back to a most romantic time in my past!  First love, sneaky dates, sweet-nothings on table napkins...My sisters and I had this song in our repertoire ala-Lennon sisters. Recommended by Bella , 5/21/2002.

******* The Theme Music of the miniseries, North and South

By .       I still have to find out the title of this music that seeps into my whole being when heard, transporting me to distant lands of heroes and heroines, pastures and horizons. Recommended by Bella , 5/24/2002.

******* To Love A Woman

By Might As Well Be My Son, JONDI.

My youngest son, Jondi, sang this purposely for me ( and holding my hand, too! ), with all the emotions he could muster.  The melody didn't quite strike me as likable, but there it was, sung by somebody I love!
