        THE POWER AND BEAUTY

                                of Words

The Power  and Beauty of Words Poems

 1.  Prose or Poetry? ( on this page)  2. Wordweaver

    3.  To Write a Poem   4A Song to my Childhood

               Prose or Poetry

Would I be wise to write in prose

                      For its unmeasured fluidity?

Does poetry daunt me as arduous,

For its rhythmic flights of fancy?

Is life in prose a trifle more lucid

In phrases that baffle not the mind?

Or is pain an ache inside the head,

When poetry pens it a little more kind?

I'd like to say none's any weaker,

For both are frigates for our taking.

While prose' discourse suits others better,

Poetry's cadence is to some more stirring.

                                                     ALV, 8/24/87
