AFRICAN-AMERICAN UNITY CRISIS
Mother of the Movement
"Please do not write me about my grammer, spelling, and incorrect sentence construction; also, please don't tell me that this page should not be posted until it's perfected. If we continue to wait until things are in perfect order, we will always be behind other Americans." When I get the proper resources, I will hire an editor. Then, everything I do will be "baked to perfection?"
Yes, I'm still crying.
"I swallow my pride everyday of my life in order to get done what I have to do. I cannot wear my feelings on my shoulders and I wish the same for you." June Colbert Bowmansims
There is a current movement to develop African-American History Curriculums to be taught in our school system. This has been a long time coming. However, I am concerned that beginning course material will reflex the history of Africans on the Continent, instead of depicting the beginning of our origin here on US soil which is the most important aspect of our ethnic group, since man began to procreate outside of his race, creating many sub-racial groups.
There must be identification of our ethnic groups interracial mixture..namely, ...American Indian, European, Asian, and any other idigenous group that makeup the Black man's American experience from the years of slavery to present day that will continue on in the future. This is important historically, because we will finally start to refer to ourselves as proud people who now eliminate self hate, along with reduction of conflict between members of our group.
We will finally be able to come together as a unit under a common banner of African-Americans. There will be no more white you're right, brown stick around, yellow you're mello and black stand back. We will no longer habor hate, dislike, and disdain for our sisters and brothers who are racially mixed with different ethnic groups.
We have been trained to hate and mistrust other race groups on the planet. But, isn't it ironic that we are carrying genetic material from those groups. So, when an African-American hates any race of people, they are hateing part of themselves.
We must change the way we identify ourselves. We are 100% mixed race human beings. We are not 3/5 of a man ( 1/5Native American + 1/5 Native American + 1/5 Black African Slave + 1/5 White man + 1/5 White ) = 5/5 = 1 whole man. When we accept the fact that we are a complete human with the 46 chromosomes that make-up man, then and only then will we began to respect ourselves. We will learn to apply every bit of our DNA to finally realize the American Dream.
Finally, we will be able to join other ethnic groups who support their own countrymen before they lend themselves to others on the planet. In my opinion, God gave us the best genetic material of the four classes of man, white European, American Indian, Asian, and other indiginous groups.
I hope the historians selected to develop the educational curriculum for African-American Studies, will construct a program that will began with the origin of our ethnic group from the time they exited the Slave Ships. Then follow their interactions with others in their environment, along with their contributions to the American Society.
Documentation should acquaint us with the proud heritage past down to us our ancestors.
We must rewrite our history to include all the accomplishments of the African-American people in
United States of America from slavery to the present. Our children need to know that we didn't disappear into the melting pot when slavery ended, and that, we are still on the outside looking in. We have had limited role models from our group. They are usually associated with sports figures, ex ofenders, and reformed felons...among others.
The monument planned for Dr. Martin Luther King is an excellent way to set and example that we are productive members of our society. We should have more monuments placed in strategic positions over the country to reflex the accomplishments of our members from slavery to present day.
In my opinion, we should not spend time on the continent Africa at the inception of the program. Instead, we should begin with Slave Ships arriving at shores where slaves were distributed over the continents and left there in bondage. Then, we can follow their development into the people we are today, taking into account the racial mixture that governs psyche experience and outer appearances.
There is a term 'Slave Holidays', flowing throughout our community are the occasions that belong to our ethnic group. It has nothing to do with black people over the world that claim an African American Heritage. They are not African-Americans and therefore they cannot understand that we need the recognition of our proud heritage.
They take offense to being included in our need to celebrate these days. For example:
- Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday.
- Black History Month
- National Malcolm X Day
- Juneteenth
The Million Man Day of Atonement: This day brings together black men from all parts of America. Many of them are not African-American! The continued mis-education of our ethnic group as to our National Origin, has become the wedge that must be removed before we can form a bond with other members of our own group, because, we tend to exclude some African-Americans from our celebrations because we tend to look for skin color when we identify black people. I would encourage you to make a copy of the definition of African-American posted on this site before continuing the read in this document, in order to better understand its content.
We must insist that there be a seize and desist order levied against all media demanding that they stop refering to every man of color in America as African-American. We should be the only people permitted to use this term, because, this is the only way to measure the progress of a people who once was enslaved in this good ole United States of America.
When there are functions where people from different continents are in competitions, each members' bio should carry complete information about their county of origin and heritage. I believe, this is the only occasion they should be permitted to be identified and/or associate with the continent where their countries are located.
