Hanging Tough For Your Love

Words by: June Colbert Bowman-Sims

1.)  I'm asking you honey to share my dreams, every waking moment we'll do meaningful things. Dreaming we were lovers before you've been my girl and more. I need you baby the time is right you're the only women I want in my life.

(You were his but, he gave you up, and I'm sitting here waiting and hanging tough.)

2.)  I can make you happy just give me a chance to build our friendship into romance. You got my heart girl and now I'm after yours. Just open up a little bit I'll slide through those doors. The time for us to be love is ectasy.

3.)  You were the one that I decided on because of your sexy ways. Say yes to me girl oh I'm hooked on you for the rest of my days. I've got to be more than just your friend you've known me long enough. When he left I was there.

4.)  Still hanging tough. I'm handcuffed a cream puff but, I'm hanging tough for your love. When it comes to you, I say I do. Release your fears, let's get on with our years. Before life passes us by. You and I. You and I. Oh baby hear my plea. You should be with me. You've known me long enough. I'm still hanging here tough.

(Repeat the third verse.)

I Did It Ok

Written by June Sims

There is nothing wrong with doing it ok. You did accomplish your goal.

1.)  I did it OK, you were the one who encouraged me on, to reach for the sky, everyday to try and I did it OK. I sought the sun to be warmed by its ray, and wished on a star when day faded away, then there you were and I did it, OK. I saw your face as a work of art that ignited the flame within my heart and made possible all things, you were the girl of my dreams.

2.)  You're compassionate and beautiful too; who could wonder why I was drawn to you? Your sensuous ways gave me the clue, and I did it OK. Without you I had nothing and didn't know where to turn. The day that I met you encouraged me to sojourn. To climb any mountain. Carving out the pathway. And I did it, oh I did it, OK.

3.)  I knew whether or not I reached the top, you'd be there by my side; and if I slipped and fell, I would still have my pride. You have me under you spell girl, prodding me to start over again, being not only my lover. But, also my friend.

4.)  And I did it OK, oh I did it OK. And I did it OK.

My first vacation was to the most beautiful country that I had ever seen,...'Jamaica'. I normally vacationed while losing myself in my Encyclopedias.   There are many people who have left their homeland but retain the love for their country, and look forward to returning home when they retire.I was inspired to write this song, 'My Home' because, I felt welcomed and loved by all the people there.

My Home

Are you going my way to Jamaica to stay? We've been away, but we've learned to Regae. We rember the Calyso; and the Ska too. All of these dances, we can do.

Our mouths tasting yam and mangols. Our taste buds tasting bread fruits. Our body craving saltfish and ackee; but, what are we going to do?

We're going back to Jamaica. That is our future plan, to get that wonderful cooking that you can only, get in our land. Free and easy as John Crow flies; we pluck the trees that strengthen our lives.

To Jamaica we'll always have ties, her beauty forever seen in our eyes.

*** Caribbean Scenery ***

Blowing fiercely, the Caribbean breeze; the tall Ibiscus and Coconut trees, drops shedded fruits, upon a colorful plain. The rain that falleth, again and again; through gulleys filled, with trash and sand, does the noble task, washing clean the land.

Natures greenery blossoms in brilliant hues; in shades of reds, yellows, greens or blues. While ripped and torn banana trees...as one, are rapidly dried...from rays of yellow sun.  In the shadows, springing plants stand tall; take shapes of their host, as about to fall.

Almond trees resisting, the pull of gravity; bend their laden, and cluttered arms to me. There's none more beautiful on Earth to Man, or have more charms than the Caribbean Land.
