1. Of or pertaining to the Black race. An ethnic group who's origin began with the Slave Trade in America.

2. Belonging to a sub-racial group, who was not recognized or counted as men, in what is now the United States of America, for hundreds of years.

3. Descendants of African Negroes, country of origin on the African Continent unknown.

4. Offspring of Captive enslaved African people, born on American or what is now, United States soil.

5. Genetics spread across all racial and ethnic lines. A mixed race group who has at least one ancestor who was enslaved in America, and/or what is now the United States during the slavery era.

6. Current genetics most likely include that of the American Indian, Black African, White European, Yellow Asian, and other indigenous groups.

7.People of color: Skin color may range from black brown, to red, to yellow, to white, and/or anywhere in between.

8. Hair extremely curly to straight and wavy. Color varies.

9. Eye color varies. could be blue!

10. Nose may be thick, flat, and wide: or, could be thin, narrow, and pointed.

11. Lips may be big and thick, or thin and narrow.

12. Height, some members over seven feet tall.

13. Natural born citizens of the United States. National Origin is African-American American.

14. When members of this group are asked their race, the response is usually I'm just Black and/or mixed race.

Prediction: All members of this group are encouraged to reach back and embrace their slavery ancestor as the link to the past, which unite present and future generations of African-Americans. When this is done, there will be immediate improvement in economic conditions, for this under represented ethnic group, in all aspects of the United States Society.

"The African-American" (C) 2002 June Colbert Bowman-Sims

I am an African-American, descendant from Kings and Queens of Africa.

I was brought to America on slave-ships, and enslaved in a country that did not recognize me, or count me as a man.

I was sold to the highest bidder, who, for over four hundred years stripped me of my wealth, caused me to forget my name, my native tongue, and the rich culture flourishing in my native land.

My dignity and self esteem died back then, and was buried so deep, that I am struggling today to know, who I am?

When I look at my self in the mirror, I see people of many colors. Sisters and brothers genetically endowed with traits that extend across all racial and ethnic lines.

I have survied against all odds in this new land of mine...and, no one can ignore my destiny.

"The African-American Creed" (C) 2004 June Colbert Bowman-Sims

I am proud to be an African-American; A people with many skin colors and creeds. Endowed with genetic backgrounds, for the integrity and skills that I need; to improve my life by the hour while working hard to speed-up the pace. All the while knowing that unity is power, and support for a strong economic base.
