Members of Troop 5 are elected into the Nissequoge chapter of the Shinnecock Lodge 360.
The Order of the Arrow is Scouting's national honor society. The Order is based upon Brotherhood, Cheerfullness, and Service. Tradition is a major part of the Order. There are many ceremonies done in the Order.
You are selected by your troop to enter the Order. If elected, you are called a candidate. You then take part in an Induction Weekend where you will become an Ordeal member. Once you are a member you may wait 10 months and then work on receiving Brotherhood membership. After being a brotherhood member for 2 years and showing exemplary service to the lodge, others, and demonstrating what an arrowman should be like, you may be nominated for the Vigil Honor. If you are selected, this is a very significant award and a great honor. This is a very difficult accomplishment and very few people will ever have this honor bestowed upon them.
