Update: 9-22-05 This Amazing News Just IN Theresa de Vera is one of our Distinguished members Folks, just in case you don't remember her, she is the lone Member who went to Florida to represent us, yes, us, the Brain Injury Support Group and all disabled people in the matter of fighting for the life of Terri Shindling-Schiavo who was court ordered by Judge Greer to be dehydrated to death. The autopsy report revealed that it wasn't her disabled brain that caused her death, it was "dehydration" that caused her death.
A Big Congratulations to Theresa de Vera for her appointment to Commissioner of the Commission of Disability from the Brain Injury Support Group on MSN!
Way To Go, Theresa!
I bet Terri, the Angel, is happy for you too.

I know you can't see the picture, click it anyway! New Site for Terri and New Information
May The Lord Bless and Keep you my Dear Friend Terri !
I will remember you with love always!
This is the picture of you that I choose to remember!
The face of your agony resides in my memory forever, but this face, this smile, this happy lady shall be my recall of you; I shall remember you with love always.
Many of times, I think back through all the difficult times that I have had in my life where I thought 'why didn't God just take me then when the accident happened?' Sometimes even today, I think that.
I quickly correct myself, because I believe that I know the answer to that question.
Ironically, I was the only one at the scene of my accident that was qualified to render first aid to anyone. I too was the only one who was seriously injured. How unfortunate that I could not help, that my hands were tied, that I could not even help myself. I learned that I was more capable than I thought I was. That I could do more than I thought I could.
Why He let me live is because He knew I would do this. I have dedicated my life to work for Him. I help other people for Him and through Him. I serve my Holy Father, His Devine Son, and I pray to the Holy Mother in Jesus' name so that I may help man and womankind to come to the will of the Holy Spirit.
To see another heal, grow, rise up if you will from His blessing me with the ability to be of service. To support and encourage/stimulate people in need of spiritual reprieve to rise up upon their own Godgiven willingness to take action toward changing themselves, to act upon His will for them is an awesome gift and a beautiful blessing.
One that I shall never forsake nor take for granted. I do not take all the credit for this, see, I'm a humble person. The miracles are from Him, I just help with the nudging a little. Smile, Dear One and Rest Peacefully!_____________________________________________________________________________________________

"Judi"
My name is Judi, I am a 27 year survivor of Traumatic Brain Injury. I was in a high speed, head on auto accident when I was 16 years old. I suffer head injury, with moderate brain injury to the bi-frontal lobes of the brain. I am severely impaired in the executive, cognitive function but I have very good compensating skills. Something that came to me as a matter of survival my first 22 years of denial. My denial was based on an inaccurate discharge summary from 1978. It stated, "No permanent brain damage" those words were very wrong but I didn't find out until 22 years later when compensating skills were not working any more. I had a job- stress related seizure one day. The next day, I was terminated for fictituous reasons even though I hadn't missed any work over the seizure. After being terminated I was physically assaulted by the employer's daughter after she attempted to give me the termination speech. I told her to save the speech, picked up my check and proceeded to my desk to get my belongings. oops! Guess I shouldn't have said that. LOL! Had I known she was so set on giving the speech I would have let her, especially if I had known she was going to jump on my back and pull my hair t to try to get me to the floor and when I wouldn't go down because I flipped her over my head, she stood up and tried to hit me across the face. Sheesh! Her mistake.
This disabled person refuses to be abused! I know a guy named Jack Koga he trained me. My sen sae's last name is Lee, not Bruce.

Subject: HELLO from a new member
Greeting to all, I am Lisa and I am new to this board, I am 36, married and the mother of two daughters ages 12 and 14. I was in a high speed very intense two car accident when I was 16, way back in 1984 (even though it seems like yesterday) it resulted in the death of a classmate of mine and resulted in multiple serious injuries for myself including head. I wasn't wearing a seatbelt and went into the windshield more than one time as the car flip flopped, the steering wheel in my abdomen was the only thing that kept me from going all the way through. I had many
concussions, skull fracture, contussions and lacerations. I was knocked out briefly and confused, kept asking if I was in a accident even though I knew I was. Today I have short term memory loss which I think is getting worse, I have reagular headaches and I sometimes have a hard time getting my thoughts into words, that has also gotton worse in the last few years. well I look forward to getting to know all of you.
Take care and have a wonderful day. LISA"
