Message Text I recently had a severe case of blood in the urine. I was to the doctor yesterday and he told me that bladder cancer may be the cause because I am a white male over 50 and a smoker. He did blood tests of which I do not have the results from yet and scheduled a MRI. He also gave me anti-biotics in case it was a bladder infection. After taking the Cipro he prescribed the blood in my urine has all but disappeared, at least to my eye, whether it is still there microscopic I do not know. I have absolutedly no past history of urinary tract infection. It is my feeling that maybe because I had a bad cold and excessive coughing that maybe that caused the bleeding. Could this be so ? I am not sure if I should have the MRI test because of the time and costs involved. I have no other cancer symptoms. I am looking for some input. Thank you.
Blood in urine after bad cough, cold ... should be suspect for exposure to 2-butoxyethanol. During the Exxon Valdez oil spill cleanup there was too much 2-butoxyethanol in the Inipol (12%) and the Corexit (38%) It was standard practice to test these workers for blood in urine, and therefor stop exposure.
I believe that for long years after, the blood in urine is a sign of Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia, now called Immune Mediated Hemolytic anemia and leads to CFIDS odd assortment of symptoms. Later there can be an abnormal peripheral blood test result. Good news is that if this starts up, but you stop exposure, you may avoid the worst result ... and a whole host of cancers that it causes, too
Here is some info on this chemical & how to find it. This is the autoimmune, tumor causing chemical.

John, what was going on differently when the coughing/cold was going on? That is what exposure looks like. For me I get flatulance with diarrhea, some people get FLU. Flu is not what you think. It is exposure to 2-butoxyethanol.
