"Humans are less susceptible than animals to red blood cell hemolysis" ? ? ? *

A bigger body .. needs more exposure then.  IF I get a slight exposure to this chemical, I get 'the sniffles' and start farting a lot.  Are they talking about vapors in one's eyes?  or what kind of exposure are they talking about?

GWS *, anemia, chronic fatigue, body destroying red blood cells

I arrived in country on December 25, 90 and departed May 91. I have since gone through periods of chronic fatigue which have gotten increasingly worse.

After a bout with an unexplainable anemia which healed itself last fall, I am now suffering with an even worse case. It seems to be cyclic. My doctor is at a loss. I know this is due to desert storm but I need some back up to get my doctor to take it seriously.

Anyone else out there going through this? I have never had the rash problem. Forgetfulness, joint pain, etc. , yes, but no rash.

If anyone out there has info they can share, please e-mail me.

Why don't we take this chemical seriously?

Severe hemoglobinuria and changes in the lungs, kidneys, and liver are seen in mice after 7-hour lethal concentration studies. Volunteers showed no evidence of adverse effects other than mucous membrane irritation after 8 hour exposures to 200 ppm. No increase in red cell fragility was seen after these brief exposures. [ACGIH] For ethylene glycol ethers, there is limited positive evidence of spontaneous abortions and decreased sperm counts in humans and strong positive evidence of birth defects and testicular damage in animals. [ATSDR Case Studies # 29] Humans are less susceptible than animals to red blood cell hemolysis. [Sullivan, p. 1204] See "Glycol ethers."
What do you think I suspect for the harm to these children?

Less susceptible?
Well, that all depends on the dose, doesn't it?
Withdraw exposure & blood goes back to normal ...
