To make backgrounds is fairly easy!

To make this all easier on you to make a background open an IE page and your regular Browser page.

First you open the post page you want,

Then you will see all the doodads to help you make a nice post.

If you look closely you will see what looks like a calendar Right between the Links and the Pictures graphics.  If you run your Cursor over it it says insert table.  Click it.

It will bring you a pop up that has several text options the first is Rows And Columns then you will see squares to the right of that in the squares Highlight the 2's and replace with 1's.

Next Cell Padding and spacing: Padding to 9 spacing to 0

Next comes Borders, change the 1 to anything between 1 & 4 more and it is just to big.

Then click on the color you want for a border.

Then Finally the Background: Now there are two ways you can do this: First for the solid background colors. Just click a color. then hit the insert table button.

To add a graphic like a sparkle or Picture you will need to open a second window preferably in IE (if you use another browser) then go to the group from that browser, then to the Pictures area find the graphic you want to use. Click it then RIGHT click on the graphic in the new window and then click on the Properties Button, Look for the URL Address, Highlight and scroll until the ENTIRE address is highlighted. Then Ctrl C to copy the address then come back to your original screen and in the area where it says Background URL Address, Click and hit Ctrl V to insert the address. Then hit the Insert Table!  Tada you made your first Background!  To make layered Backgrounds Just click into the first Box and repeat the steps!

If you wish to Make a duplicate/repeating layered Background just C & P the original one on top of the first.
