Meditation Class
Monday Evenings 7:45-9:15 p.m.
Meditation is a way of becoming more calm, clear and alive to our moment-to-moment experience and more emotionally positive towards ourselves and others. In meditation, we learn not to react habitually to our experience but to respond creatively and with awareness.
Meditation is a tool for radical transformation.
These evenings are dedicated primarily to the practice of meditation and will alternate each week between the mindfulness of breathing and the metta bhavana meditations. For those new to meditation, basic introduction and instruction will be given each week. As well as this, there will be an ongoing programme to support those wishing to strengthen their practice through exploring the subtleties of meditation using the traditional Buddhist principles and models of investigation.
All of us come to meditation for different reasons. There is no prerequisite to be a "Buddhist" to find value in these meditations.
We envisage people moving between this class and the Thursday class as they feel it to be appropriate. We hope all the classes will be seen as a mutually beneficial whole.
