July 12, 2007 - Two New Paintings of Buk: Here's a detail of a watercolor that I intended to insert in a copy of Charles Bukowski Spit In My Face, but by mistake I did it on paper that was too large for the book. I could have trimmed it to fit but would have lost some of the top and bottom of the image, so I decided to sell it as a stand-alone painting without the book. It's on eBay now. . Below is the watercolor painting for copy number 12 of Charles Bukowski Spit In My Face. I gave copy 12 to a friend. 
1/11/2005 Below is a portrait of Bukowski as an old man that I did for copy number 10 of the reprint edition of my chapbook, CHARLES BUKOWSKI SPIT IN MY FACE. It's rather subdued, simple with only a few colors. I'm getting better about knowing when a painting is done and not overworking and thus ruining it. This is the first painting I've done in ages, due to being too damned busy all of the time.

10/7/2001 Here's a couple watercolor portraits of author Charles Bukowski that were inserted into deluxe copies number 4 and 5 of my chapbook CHARLES BUKOWSKI SPIT IN MY FACE. I never get tired of painting Bukowski's face, with its intensity and character. 
4/26/2001 I've assembled a few deluxe copies of the reprint edition of CHARLES BUKOWSKI SPIT IN MY FACE. Below is the watercolor portrait of Buk that's in copy # 3. I'm doing these paintings slowly, one at at time. 
4/9/2001 I've reprinted my memoir, CHARLES BUKOWSKI SPIT IN MY FACE, in an expanded edition. Here's a watercolor painting of Buk that's in copy number 2 of the new edition. 
2/24/2001 This is a new painting I did of Jack Kerouac, acrylics on canvas board. 
2/16/2001: Here's a painting I did of Bukowski, acrylics on canvas. Not a very good photo. The colors are brighter in the original, but you get the idea. 
1/15/2001: This is a pencil drawing I did of Bukowski in 1982. I used it as the cover art for my self-published memoir, CHARLES BUKOWSKI SPIT IN MY FACE.

Here's the cover of a Bibliography I did of Bukowski's works in 1983. It's out-of-print. 
This is a linoleum block print portrait of Bukowski I did in 1983. Each copy of my Bukowski bibliography included a hand-printed copy of this print. 
My big news is that the book DRINKING WITH BUKOWSKI is out from Thundersmouth Press. You can buy it on Amazon.com and elsewhere. My essay "Charles Bukowski Spit In My Face" is reprinted in this collection. The original chapbook edition of my Spit book is out of print, and has been since about 1984, but I plan to reissue it soon with a new preface. David |
