After Intramuscular injection, Ampicillin is very quickly resorbed and within one hour following injection maximum blood concentrations are reached, which are maintained for about 20 hours. Bacterial infections caused by micro-organisms susceptible to penicillin’s, like intestinal, respiratory, urogenital infections, mastitis, metritis, arthritis and secondary infections during the course of viral diseases Ampicillin is incompatible with tetracycline’s, chloramphenicol and sulfonamides. The general dose is: 1 ml per 20 kg bodyweight, twice daily, during 3 - 5 days. This dosage may be increased in mammals, without risk for toxicity.
