 Program Trainings

We offer trainings in our SMART model--the Swedish model including A.R.T. and Peace4Kids several times a year.  Please see the Calendar for training dates and look into the flyer section.  We try to keep these posted on a regular basis!  If you would like to schedule your own training, please call us; we are able to come to your organization or district to train.  If that isn't possible for you, then see if you can attend one of the trainings we put on.  Our training fee is $190 per person but if that is too costly for you, we have scholarships available for each training. One of Arnie Goldstein's books will be a required textbook for each of the ART trainings we do.  We do encourage you to purchase some books that will augment your training, i.e.,other of  Goldstein's books like the PREPARE CURRICULUM, AGGRESSION REPLACEMENT TRAINING,  SKILLSTREAMING THE ELEMENTARY CHILD , and SKILLSTREAMING THE ADOLESCENT,  Nowicki's book, HOW TO HELP THE CHILD WHO DOESN'T FIT IN, and Carla Hannaford's book, SMART MOVES.  We recently are promoting COOPETITION,  PRIMAL LEADERSHIP and EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE because they explain in great depth the importance of emotional intelligence and empathy for both personal and work success.  They are great to give kids as well.  In addition, we urge you to use Louis Sachar's book HOLES that is great for kids to read.  A lesson has been written with HOLES that will be explained in the training.

We are developing additional lessons and activities especially in the area of character education and try to put the new lessons we write here on the web page so you can continually add to your curriculum.  Our emphasis now is to write these character education lessons with accompanying student games.    We include coverage of these new lessons in each training.

We have two levels of training in our expanded program--introductory and advanced.  The training covers all aspects of our program as it is being developed and refined.  We add to our trainings as we incorporate other evidenced-based programs.  Trainings include the following:
1)  Introduction, History and Research
2.  The PEACE CURRICULUM
      a.  The curriculum including empathy, anger control, social skill rehearsal and character education
      b.  The Parent Empowerment Program
      c.   Brain Development Activities
      d.  Structured discipline system including points, rules, levels, recognitions, scheduling and structure
      e.  Command Dance (movement to build character)
      f.   Character Education as a way to Build Cultures of Integrity
      g.   Restorative Justice (processes to help offending students make amends)
      h.   Grant writing
3.  Some experiential activities that give participants a "feel" of the activities done with students

The Advanced Training involves all of the above but with practice and feedback in the elements of the program. Advanced training offers you the opportunity to work on your own discipline structure with feedback from us.  You will leave this workshop having had experienced teaching some lessons, introducing the model, writing activities for kids and constructing your own discipline system that will work in your agency or classroom.  It is experiential and fun!

We also provide grant-writing trainings periodically with Ron Mirr as our presenter.  He is fabulous and we are putting on a pre-conference grant seminar training July 30 and 31 in Denver.  There is alot of money available to develop programs in schools and agencies; try to come to this; you won't regret it!    Call 1.800.221.4125, access code 04 for more information about trainings.
