ADDING YOUR OWN PHOTO, ALBUM, ETC.

The "Coach Jerome Van Meter" and "Sam’s World and Friends" web sites are open to members so you can add your own photo(s) to an existing album or "Create Your Own Album." It is hoped instead of adding to someone else’s album that you "Create Your Own Album" and add to it as desired.

Each member that has a Hotmail address is allotted 3 megabytes to use for posting their photos in an album or in their personal web site. If your photos are about 40-50 kilobytes, you should be able to add about 40 photos. Photos would have to be of good taste that the general public can view.

MSN has their album program so designed that only you, should you decide to close your album to other members, will be the only one able to add or delete whatever photos you have put in your album. Even if you allow other members to add photos to your album, they cannot delete your photos. They can only delete photos that they have added. Whether you make an error or not, you cannot hurt the web site or any photos in existing albums. MSN does not give you the ability to access any of the pages, photos of others, etc. Only the manager or the assisting manager in said web sites can access all that is in an MSN web site.

By joining "Coach Jerome Van Meter" and/or "Sam’s World and Friends" web sites you are assuring its continuation. If the manager is unable to continue adding photos, you can still keep the web site active by adding your photos. Just as long as someone add photos to a web site to keep it active, the web site is safe.

I will try to give the directions as simple as possible. Should you need assistance, e-mail me at: samato@charter.net.

HOW TO ADD A PHOTO OR CREATE A PHOTO ALBUM IN COACH JEROME VAN METER’S PHOTO ALBUM.

The first thing you will have to do is join "Coach Jerome Van Meter" and/or "Sam’s World and Friends" web sites.

HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER OF A SITE,

1. Bring up the site on the web.

2. On the left of the page, you will see, "Join this Group."

3. If you already have a Hotmail address, you can use it to join the group. But if you do not, then you will have to get a NetPassport which is a hotmail address and then join the group.

4. You then will have to be approved by the manger to join the site. Once you are approved, you can begin posting appropriate photos in the web site or create your own album.

ONCE YOU HAVE BEEN APPROVED TO JOIN THE GROUP, TO POST PHOTOS OR CREATE AND ALBUM, DO THE FOLLOWING:

Coach Van Meter’s web site

1. If you are a member of "Coach Van Meter’s web site, go to this link given below. At the top of the page, you will see "Sign In." Click that and sign in with your passport and your password,
and once the page opens, click "create a new album. You are now ready to begin your album.

5. Next, click "Edit title and descriptions" to put what you want in there for the title if changes are needed and insert something about the photo if desired and then click "Save." Be sure after you make changes to click "Save" or that part will not be saved.

Sam’s World and Friends’ web site

1. If you are a member of Sam’s World and Friends’s web site, go to this link given below. At the top of the page, you will see "Sign In." Click that and sign in with your passport and your password and once the page opens, click "create a new album. You are now ready to begin your album.

http://groups.msn.com/SamsWorldandFriends/shoebox.msnw

2. Give the title of your album, the description and whether you want it open or closed to other members, and then click"Save."

3. Before you can add photos, you will have to download a small program which allows you to Upload (put your photos on your album.)

4. After that find the photos you want to Upload wherever you have stored them, click them and then click "Upload" in the upper right section of the page. The photos will be uploaded in your album.

5 Next, click "Edit title and descriptions" to put what you want in there for the title if changes are needed and insert something about the photo if desired and then click "Save." Be sure after you make changes to click "Save" or that part will not be saved.

Please note: You cannot hurt the web site. The only thing you can do is add your photos and only delete your photos if you so desire. Access to any other albums, photos or pages are not available to you.

Concerning photos, obscene photos are not allowed. I have tried to screen the membership close enough so that will not take place, but you l never know who may have accidentally got in that shouldn’t. If an obscene photo is found in your album or elsewhere by you, the photo or your entire album will be deleted and you will be banned from participating in any manner in the web site. The sad thing about the whole thing, if MSN finds inappropriate photos before I do, they may well delete the entire web site. If you see a photo or message out of taste, please notify me at samato@charter.net

TO CREATE AN ALBUM

1. Go where the list of albums are.
2. Click "Create an Album."
3. A box will appear for you to write the title you want the album to have. Write the title for your album. Your titled should be no more then sixteen (16) spaces. Example: John Doe 1957 (13 spaces.)
4. Below the title block you will see "Page Descriptions" Write what the page is going to be about.

5. Decide whether you want other to add to your album or not.
6. Then click "Save."
7. After it has been saved, open your album and add your photos.

EDITING YOUR PHOTO

1. After you have put a photo in the album you may need to edit the title or add more information.
2. Click the title of the photo, it will allow you to edit it by giving it an appropriate title and any comments you want to make about the photo.
3. After you make changes or additions, then click "Save."

DELETING YOUR PHOTO

1. After you have put a photo in the album you may want to delete it.
2. Above the photo, you will see "Delete" with some other messages and you can delete your photo from there.
3. A box will appear and ask are you sure you want to delete this photo. Click "Yes."

35MM PHOTOS VERSUS DIGITAL PHOTOS

1.After you have scanned a 35mm photo, if you will highlight the title, then put your mouse on the title of the photo, and right click, you will see "Properties."
2. Scroll to "Properties" and click. Here you will see how many kilobytes(KB) are in that photo.
3. To find the KB in a digital photo, follow the same steps. Highlight the title, place your mouse on the title, right click and scroll to "Properties," and click.
4. Where a 35mm will usually have less then 25KB, a digital photo can easily have 400KB. The larger the KB, the more space it takes and the quicker you will use up your 3 megabytes.
5. Digital photos are usually 40 or 50 KB. If the digital photo has a large amount of KB such as 150 or 400KB, compress it and if you do not have software to alter the KB, I would not use it. If you do not make a photo with as few KB as you can, you will use your quota of 3 megabytes very quickly, and therefore would not be able to add any more unless you delete something you have already put in there.

For a more detailed information about working with an MSN site, click the link below:

If you add an album, let me know there are things I would need to do to make it show in our list that you are not allowed to do.

Give it a try. It is not as hard as you think. Photos will have to appropriate for all ages to view.
