Breeder of cockatiels in a variety of color mutations. Focusing on producing dominant mutations, selectively reducing the occurence of splits topieds by using genetics when concidering breeding.  We have bred some of the most colorful pearls and cinnamons.  The future looks very bright for our aviary.  We are always looking for feedback from fellow breeders of cockatiels and bird lovers.

I'm 34 yrs old with two kids, ages 6 & 10.  We live in Maryland.  Our family consists of me and the kids, our two dogs - 1 part aussie shephard/sharpei, 1 pekinese, 5 cockatiels (1 grey, 2 pied, 1 pearl, 1 whiteface) and a dozen or so hamsters.  We lose track of the count on the hamsters.  My son raises dwarf hamsters, my daughter raises teddy bears. 

 

I am interested in breeding my cockatiels and love to read and learn more about them.  I know i'm not the only cockatiel crazy person in Maryland, but it sure seems like it!

I breed tiels and have close to 20. I have 2 redrumped keets, a wf lovebird and 4 keets. I also have 2 ferrets. I like to read and do outdoor activities.

I started with cockatiels about 5years ago when my wife and I went to a place called Bird Jungle in Yonkers NY. My wife was playing with the Tiels when one particular Albino came to my wife. For my wife it was love at first site. At the time I wasn't ready for a pet, but I bought a cage and the Albino which we now call July ( yes we bought her in the month of July). July was very attach to my wife, not to me. Later, about 2 1/2 years later, we decided to buy a companion for July. And that were Nova ( was bought in the month of November ) my male tiel comes in. It took a while before they mated. After a while I asked around to get suggestions on why they haven't mated. I found out that there was alot involed in them mating. So after getting the conditions just right, they had their first clutch of eggs. Now my family of bird is a total of six Tiels. The addition to the family are Spike and Angle name after the charters in Buffy the vampire slayer. Then there's Little Runt. He was named that because he was so small and we thought we might lose him. So I concentrated on him and he survived. And lastly is BooBoo, no story for his name, we just picked a name.

July and Nova did have another clutch but only one survived. The surviving Tiel name is Lucky, you can guess why we name him that. He/she is going to be given to my mother.

I love my cockatiels. Other interested are movies, reading, and cross-stich. I am just starting to breed cockatiels, hoping to make enought to get off of disability. Help and information is always welcome.
